You were born bald, skinny. 21 inches long with the biggest ears ive ever seen. Your mother and i wondered if youd walk, or fly. You didnt crawl you mostly scooted around. So i nicknamed you scooter. I will continue to honor him by passing on the death hes given me to other officers and being the mentor that he was to me. Reporter while having fun along the way. That was known as glitter gate. I cant believe these things are happening to the people that are trying to protect and take care of us. Ive lived in hayward 22 years. At some point i probably met the officer. Soy so i just wanted to be here to show support. Reporter even those too young owe understand were filled with pride. You never know what is going to happen to them. I just feel for them. I respect them so much. Reporter people say if there is anything to come out of this tragedy, its that this community is closely knit filled with strength and light needed to overcome darkness. New details on a violent encounter with San Francisco police that injured two officers and left a wanted assault suspect dead, dieing after fighting with the officers. Sonoma county Sheriff Deputies believe he was on the run after beating a 97yearold man he took care of before 5 00 this morning. The man remains hospitalized in serious condition tonight. Police say he rear ended a bmw along richardson avenue, the driver says the suspect ach yeared to be incoherent and he chased the bmws driver for a few blocks. One officer was thrown to the ground and suffered head injuries. Another punched by the suspect. Those officers are recovering tonight. Other officers captured the suspect near an ihop. He stopped breathing after being handcuffed. Police and paramedics were unable to revive him. A family has filed a lawsuit against a San Jose Police department accusing the department of racial profiling. The lawsuit says that an officer followed the couple home after they picked up their 7yearold daughter from school jumped out of his patrol car drew his gun and placed the father in handcuffs and officers then searched the car. The couple claims Police Received calls about suspicious black man with a purple backpack. Something the dad said he did not have. The teen accused of killing 8yearold Maddy Middleton made a Court Appearance today, Adrian Gonzales is being charged as an adult in this case. And chris nguyen is live with the latest. Reporter gonzales had very little to say during his Court Appearance. He did not enter a plea this morning and will return to court in mid september. Today, in superior court, wearing a green shirt and khaki pants, the 15yearold Adrian Jerry Gonzales waived a right to a speedy trial. Were in a position to go forward at a moments notice in this case. And were confident in the jurors of santa cruz being able to fairly hear this. Reporter gonzales had been charged with murdering his neighbor Maddy Middleton. Special allegations include rape and committing lewd acts with a child under age 14. Our job will be to review the evidence conduct our investigation and make sure the minor, like every citizen accused, receives a fair trial. Reporter outside of the court house a former friend of gonzales reacts. There is not empathy you can have for him, but i feel empathy for the person i knew. Reporter she says he threatened to commit suicide a few years ago but she never took the threats seriously. I would never think he would do this. He never seemed the type of person to hurt anyone else. Reporter the Santa Cruz School district is working to provide counselling services to students and staff as well as the rest of the community. Today, Santa Clara County prosecutors charge hadded women molesting a 7yearold or 8yearold boy. He volunteered at walden west science camp. Sky 7 hd flew overhead while they looked for clues near Richmond Park way. The fire broke out this afternoon. Investigators are looking for what caused someone to start the burn. Details on a murd year suicide involving a father, daughter and soninlaw in vallejo. All three people have now, in last weeks shooting on songwood road now died. Police say baker shot his fatherinlaw after an argument then shot his estranged wife, and turned the gun on himself. The bakers both died at the shooting. The father passed away, yesterday. There are questions over a death of a prisoner in San Francisco county jail. Vic lee is live with the jail with more. Reporter the question is could the suicide here have been prevented some or did the deputies do everything they could to determine that the inmate was not a danger to himself . Last saturday, alberto petrolinos family called chp telling he told them he was going to jump off the golden gate bridge. Officers found him drunk on a bridge at the parking lot. The chp says he was asked if he was suicidal and he answered he wasnt. The chp says officers then gave him a standard series of questions to see if he was telling the truth. They determined that he was. And that he was not suicidal. Officers discovered he had arrest warrants so they took him to county jail, he was booked on the warrants. Violation of a court order. Probably a stay away order or court order. Reporter here the story gets murkier. He was jailed with the general population, not suicide watch. But the chp says in a statement, its officers did share their information with Sheriff Deputies about the initial suicide call. On tuesday evening, deputies found petrolino hanging from a shower stall at the jail. The facts of the case are under investigation. Reporter questions for investigators.
