Thank you. The thanksgiving travel rush is underway. Many families taking a week off for the holiday are getting a head start this weekend. Heres a live look at San Francisco international airport. The faa says there are no delays right now. Friday was the busiest travel day of the year. Officials say tomorrow will be the biggest day at san jose airport. The tip company says an estimated 28. 5 Million People will fly during the 12day thanksgiving holiday period. Nationally, the busiest day for passengers is the sunday after thanksgiving. Millions of people are hitting the roads this week. The navigation site waze says the worse time to drive is tuesday from 4 00 to 6 00 p. M. And wednesday from 3 00 to 5 00 p. M. After the thanksgiving holiday, youll find the most traffic going home on monday between 7 00 a. M. And 5 00 p. M. The chp says a suspected drunk driver drove through a closed construction zone, killing his father. Seriously injurying his mother in just the past week, two suspected fatal dui crashes have ripped apart families in the north bay. What happened on tuesday, the latest happened yesterday and a construction highway near 101 and San Antonio Creek in Sonoma County. Lisa has the latest. This is whats left of the now mangled Chrysler Sebring convertible. Police say the family is if lake county. The driver was a 29yearold man. His father was in the passengers seat and h his mother was in the backseat. No one wearing a seat belt and though these construction signs on highway 101 near San Antonio Creek are highly visible, the driver still ended up on a closed road. Theres a 30foot gap in the freeway yet to be completed. The vehicle traveled off paved portion and skently struck a bridge abutment wall. You can see from this video, part of the path the car took before crashing into the open gap and falling 15 feet. The 69yearold passenger died immediately. The mans wife and son were rushed to the hospital. The driver was in fact driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs and the driver has subsequently been placed under arrest. This is the second fatal suspected dui in less than a week in Sonoma County. On tuesday on highway 12, Police Arrested the driver of this pickup truck after they say he drove head on into car driven by a young mother. She and her 7yearold daughter died. At that that scene and at todays, empty beer cans were found in the crashed cars. Impairment being a factor. We all know impairment can affect your judgment. Chp has upped patrols and has all available offers this holiday week. Abc 7 news. Happening today. Family and friends of loved ones kill td or injured in traffic crashes will march in San Francisco. Today is the third annual royal day of rem brans for road traffic victims. The goal of the march is to call attention to those incidents. The Memorial Walk starts at 3 00 this afternoon at the 16th street b. A. R. T. Station and ends at San Francisco city hall with a vigil. Sheriffs depps are searching for someone who shot and killed a man has he tried to sell an item he posted online. It happened yesterday afternoon. The 32yearold victim was trying to sell an Electronic Device to another person when she was shot. The shooter managed to escape. The identity of the victim could be released today. The police are encouraging you if youre selling an item in an online classified ad, meet the buy er at a Police Station or request something called a civil stand by. That means having an officer supervise that transaction. Some Police Stations around the bay area including daily city and fremont have whos known as a a Safe Exchange zone. San jose firefighters are confirming a third person has died from an Apartment Fire on south 9th street. Firefighters now investigating whether smoke detectors were working. Whether they were or not, their task didnt get accomplished, which is for whatever reason, these poor people were not woken in time to get o out safely. They say the buildings owners have no comment for us. The fbi and california Highway Patrol carried out raids targeting several locations in santa rosa yesterday afternoon. According to the Santa Rosa Press democrat, the raids appeared to target motorcyclists gathered at the wagon wheel saloon. Several motorcycles were detained. The fbi says agentsed federal warrantses at elections and that the u. S. Attorney will release more information tomorrow. Closing arguments will begin tomorrow in the murder trial for the man accused of killing kate steinle. Last week, a judge ruled jurors will be allowed to consider a first degree murder verdict as well as Second Degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Santa rosa neighbors hosted a City Wide Garage Sale to benefit those who lost everything in the wildfires. It wasnt exactly a sale because all the items were free to the fire victims. The Organizer Says she plans to hold another event in april when she hopes more people who were forced out of their homes have a new place to stay. A lot of the people that have come today havent found homes yet. So theyre just trying to grab small things. Blanket, a pillow the that might help them out. And maybe a room theyre renting. An honor system was in place trusting those who took items were fire survivors. Happening today, the San Francisco symphony will perform a benefit concert for north bay wildfire victims. The concert is sold out tonight. Is symphony will perform music and all proceeds will be donated to the north Bay Fire Relief Fund and Sonoma County resilience fund. A institution has kicked off its annual turkey curb side donation drive. Abc news was outside st. Anthonys where you could drop off a turkey, ham or gently used cloeting. They still need more. St. Anthonys expects to serve about 3500 dinners on thap thanksgiving. Rain arrives in the north bay and mist and drizzle at the coast. Looks like well see rain come friday and saturday. We still might, but we have another forecast model that wants to bring very, very warm air back to the bay area. But some mild air is with us today for the south bay with a few clouds around. This is how it played out in san jose earlier with the 40s and wildfi well go up into the mid60s today. So should be a nice day for cupertino, sunnyvale and san jose. Storm impact tomorrow is a one and for the north bay, well have showers and about a tenth of an inch of rain and cloudy and dry for the rest of us. The cloud cover now and we stop it at 6 00, we scattered light showers here and then they will continue through about the 9 00 here then by the afternoon, the stm falls apart.
