As we widen the perspective, they are shifting over the bay area underneath a ruj of High Pressure keeping us high and dry. From mount tam this morning, were looking at numbers in the 60s from Half Moon Bay to San Francisco. 52 gilroy. 59 in the oak view. Mountain view at 60. Weve got upper 40s santa rosas as well as novato. Mid 50s for concord and livermore. A bit cooler this morning due to cloud cover and calmer winds at the surface anywhere from 6 to 9 degrees cooler. I an look at the northern sierra, 26 of average as the northern sierra snowpack. No new snow. No rain for the future. 70 by noontime. Records in jeopardy once again today. Lisa, thanks. Developing news from south carolina, thats where weve learned that the two People Killed in a collision between two trains were employees of amtrak. The new york to miami train collided with a Freight Train that was on the same track. This happened early this morning near the town of case in lexington county. These pictures show the side of an amtrak car sheered off. One passenger praised the crew. I was dead asleep and i was awoken by the impact. And then the crew came through really quickly, got everybody detrained. In a really calm fashion. At least 116 people were taken to the hospital. Injuries ranged from bruises to broken bones. The fbi has been called in to investigate. Its not clear why the trains were on the same track. More developing news this time out of oakland where spectators at a sideshow threw several bottles at Police Officers and smashed the windows of nearby businesses. This all happened at around 2 00 this morning in the area of high street and foothill boulevard near fremont high school. Officers cited several drivers and had numerous vehicles towed. So far we havent heard of any injuries or arrests. Last weekend, a Richmond Police officer was injured while trying to break up a shooid sideshow. He suffered a dislocated shoulder as well as a head wound that required staples. Two teenagers are facing multiple felony charges in that case. District Attorneys Office is charging juan vargas and Jennifer Diaz with attempted murder of a Police Officer and assault with a deadly weapon. Time is 9004. This morning, police at deangelo college in cupertino are looking for a man who obviously they say committed a hate crime. A man was knock uncon news during the attack. The second i hit the top stair, he had come down and was just facing me. I had zero chance to protect myself. The second he saw me, he screamed blooep it and punched me straight in the face. I was new yorked out cold. Reporter this sketch is what Deanza College student d. J. Smith says the attacker looked like. Smith went straight to police after waking up on the steps of the flint center garage. What was said, we are considering this a hate crime. Reporter it happened late in the jeanning arn 26th. The week previous to that, smith says he was hit from behind in the same garage. Classes are offered late. During the week, its not uncommon to have students here between 10 00 and 11 00 at night. You wont find exterior security cameras on campus. A petition went around where thousands of students signed the petition in hopes to get cameras in the parking lots. Nothing came about it. Reporter the college says there isnt funding available for cameras. Campus police have followed leads from the sketch but so far no arrests. Weve increased both foot and Vehicle Patrol of the areas. Reporter the college offered smith on and off campus resources and theyre concerned about the student and the incident. Im anxious all the time. I dont eat. I dont sleep. A dog is dead and another is on the loose after they attacked a woman and a Police Officer in oakland. Abc 67 news was on 91st avenue where the dogs escaped from a familys yard. The east bay times reports they attacked neighbors and chased a woman to her front door. Thee barely made it inside. Police say her hand may have been broken by a bite. One of the dogs, a 50pound German Shepherd charged at a responding officer who obviously shot and killed the dog. Police are still searching for the second animal. Police in San Francisco arrest aid carjacking suspect after a chase through the city. It started at around 8 30 last night when police say a vehicle was carjacked from the fifth and Mission Parking garage downtown. Witnesses say the man had a gun. Police spotted the vehicle and a chase ensued. It ended in Hunters Point when the the suspect ran out. Officers caught up to him and made the arrest. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Now a story we first brought you yesterday morning about an around man who obviously caused a serious scare in pleasant hill. He is now receiving Mental Health treatment. He was spotted friday night dressed in military gear and armed with an assault style rifle near the stunt Movie Theater downtown. He ran from officers. Police locked down the area as they searched nearly six hours for him. He was finally detained at around 4 00 yesterday morning. In about ten years, berkeleys only emergency room will move to oakland and people are very concerned about the loss. Abc7 news was at the ed roberts campus on adeleine street in berkeley where the community discussed the proposed changes coming to al ta bates medical center. Suter health plans to relocate alta bates acute Care Services to oakland several miles away to the meet state earthquake regulations. State senator Nancy Skinner said 40,000 people will be put in danger. Minutes matter. You have a heart attack, you have a stroke, minutes platter. A new report says pg e power lines started two small fires during the north bay wildfires. According to the press democrat, they were separate from the huge blays last october. It says one of the fires destroyed two hopes and the other damaged an outbuilding. The investigation adds, strong winds that night caused the power lines to arc. That sent sparks into dry grass and bushes which started the fires. It is still not clear what started the larger fires that killed dozens of people and wiped out hundreds of homes. This week the directors of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will vote whether to accept bids to turn the garage at Moscone Center into Affordable Housing units. Right now the garage is 53 occupied during peak hours ban bringsings in nearly 2. 5 million for the city per year. The plan is to turn it into a 30320 foot tower with 650 hotel rooms and 100 Affordable Housing units, part of a broader city push to create Affordable Housing on public land. Is live doppler 7 showing some clouds pushing through the bay area will thin out. Its partly sunny right now. A mix of high clouds and a lot of sunshine today. Allowing for temperatures to be as much as 15 degrees above average, maybe even near 20 degrees. Its calm at the surface. Sme breezy winds in the upper elevations. 60 downtown. 59 in oakland. 57 in san jose. Half moon bay 64 degrees. It doesnt feel like summer because summer isnt that warm at the coast. It is very unusual with temperatures once again locked in place. This regime with High Pressure in control does not look like its going to move anytime soon. Livermore at 57. 48 in santa rosa. Looking at emeryville this morning, well into the 70s yesterday. More record warmth on the way today. Temperatures above average throughout the week. Into next week, two weeks dry weather. Lets skip ahead into tuesday where weve got 60s at the coast. A slight cooldown. Weve got the onshore flow. All of a sudden, it turns around and again, were offshore. So weve got upper 60s to low 70s on wednesday through thursday. Very subtle changes. Were anywhere between the upper 60s and middle 70s which still keeps us 10, 15 degrees above average. Highs today on the warm end. Well be in the upper 70s for san jose and palo alto. 73 san rafael. Santa rosa, 75. And the accuweather sevenday forecast showing is the warmest day of the week today even at the coast quite mild. Even when we see more of an onshore push, which we have right now, were still well into the 60s coastline. Upper 60s to near 70 around the bay and throughout the week. Were mild in the low to mid70s. Usually we have what we call these westerly winds that can break through the ridge this time of year. But nothing doing.
