We have learned that President Trump postponed these raids after speaking with San Francisco democrat and House Speaker nancy pelosi. Some are now asking if this is a good faith gesture or a political ploy . I think the way theyre doing it is not the right way. And the consequences are not going to be good. Reporter San Francisco resident michael woo shows a common sentiment, supporting President Trump and postponing sunday mornings i. C. E. Raids. The deportation raids, as you call them, are really a group of nt y, very good l. They ce io our country illegally, and were taking them out legally. Were bringing them back to their country. Reporter but Professor Emeritus says the president is being hypocritical. Lets remember mayor libby schaaf was excoriated forgiving notice to people of impending i. C. E. Raids a while back. Reporter he thinks postponing the raids at the request of the democrats is an attempt by the president to put the onus on the democrats. And to increase his bargaining power. You guys work it out. And if you dont, then what i have to so subsequently, if i have to deport a bunch of people, its your fault. Reporter the mayor said the raids are designed to inflict as much fear and pain as possle. But in an interview, acting i. C. E. Director mark morgan says this is not about fear. No one is instilling fear in anyone. This is about the rule of law, and maintaining the integrity of the system. But some political the advanced warnings put the raids in jeopardy. The people hes targeting are being targeted here are people who have received summons, have an order to report and ignored the summons. Reporter keep in mind, President Trump has deported fewer people than president obama did in his early years, and despite this, i. C. E. Will continue its operations throughout the rest of the country. Thank you very much.
