We like to have certain number of minimum wage but going beyond 16 an hour i think thats going to hurt a lot of Small Businesses. Reporter dave is the owner of Black Diamond cafe. He pays 15 an hour. He says increasing his employees pay to 16. 30 would have increased his weekly cost an additional 331. 50. He couldnt afford that so prior to the amendment exempting Small Businesses from paying the higher wage, he said he let two parttime workers go. I think it will impact pretty good because we have to cut labors. So also we might prai price. The rising costs of rent, food, transportation, all the things in the bay area, that adds up for a restaurant worker. Reporter she says there are other ways to cut costs and save money. Lets talk with the city counsel about tax incentives for employers. Lets not talk about cutting workers wages. There is a chance no decision gets made and the city counsel will put it on a ballot for a vote in an upcoming election. Liz, i know youve talked with other minimum wage advocates as well. Its been a week since a fight turned into gunfire and sent terrified shoppers running for cover. Two teenagers were shot and wounded. Both are recovering. One suspect has been arrested with an accomplice, another suspect 18yearold deandre gant is still out there. In the east bay the search is on for a young man that shot and killed a teenager. It happened at the taco bell in livermore. The victim was just 16 years old. Abc 7 News Reporter vic lee is on that story. Reporter the painted window at taco bell says it all the day after the 16yearold was shot and killed here. His Close Friends missed him more than ever. Were not using his name because its not been released by police or his family. Hes such a good person and kid. He always had a good heart and smile on his face. Reporter the teen was shot and killed here last night at taco bells parking lot. Police got the call at 9 45. Police Sergeant Steve george said it wasnt random. We dont know there was any on going feed br ing feud prior. It sounds like the suspect killed a gun and shot the victim in the abdomen. Reporter police say there is no indication it was gang related. They are looking for the killer. 21yearold jorge luis torrez. They hope someone will tell investigatiors where he is. He did serve a search warrant. Hes not at home. Hes still outstanding. Reporter the 16yearold went to Livermore High School and played Junior Varsity football here. Tina sanders is a football mom. Her sanjay son was one of his best friends on the team. I have a 16yearold calling me asking me about how he copes with this and how this is even possible to happen. Reporter the money would go towards their new wildlife Safety Operation Center that opened in march which includes weather stations and cameras in highrisk areas. The utility has plans to manage vegetation around power poles and wants to harden those poles. Thats replacing wood poles with nonwood poles and hard hardening the wires. Reporter to do this work, pg e wants to increase revenue by more than 1 billion in 2020. Thats a 12. 4 increase and 454 million by 2021 and 486 million by 2022. Pg e assured customers they would pay 10 more a month the first year if they live in a typical residential home. The Utility Reform Network reminded everyone more increases are imminent. This proposal comes on top of other rate increases currently being proposed by pg e. Reporter shes right. Last april the cpu voted to allow pg e to recover some of the expenses incurred back in 2016 and 17 when the utility had to prune, cut back and remove dead or dying trees because of the states severe drought. Customers will see several increases to their bill over time. This is the bailout and over step of the way that they come and ask for more money is an additional insult to injury. Pg e will host a second open house meeting this week so customers can learn about preemptive power shutouts in times of high fire danger. The first meeting was last night in oakland. We dont know how long the blackouts will be. We dont know where exactly they will be. I dont think pg e can predict that either. Pg e says it will give a 48hour warning to customers in the event of a planned outage. Its an important time to revisit how big the rebates should be. Right now, the Trump Administration is moving backwards. They want to rollback fuel standards and want to not have Clean Car Standards. They dont want to allow california to have its own Clean Car Standards and i think this will be a disaster. Notice the 24hour temperature change most bay area locations are four to six degrees warmer than they were at this time yesterday. It will be hot inland by the end of the week and the heat will hold on through the weekend. Overnight, though, look for lots of low clouds and fog and it will be a bit breezy and cool near the coast. Hottest areas will be the inland east bay and far northern parts of our viewing area and even hotter still on friday with inland highs in the upper 90s, mid to upper 90s and that pattern holds through saturday before temperatures moderate a bit. Here is the accuweather sevenday forecast. After mid to upper 90s inland on friday and saturday and still mid90s on sunday. Well see temperatures easing up a bit especially inland by monday well see highs reaching upper 70s around the bay shoreline.
