Reporter good morning. The ntsb set to be out here in a few hours to begin their investigation, and that student pilot we know remains in critical condition. Airport Officials Say a Flight Instructor and student were doing training flights that usually last about an hour in a robinson r44 helicopter. The chopper crashed near the runway and landed outside. The instructor has been identified as wane prodger and he died at the hospital. They did not receive any distress calls but they believe the accident happened during a hovering exercise. You are in the air stationary in one place and thats what they were practicing, i believe, when the incident occurred. That helicopter they were flying does not have a black box recorder which could hinder their investigation. Officials tell me the ntsb will issue an update when they clear the scene but the final report could take up to a year to complete stating probable cause. We are tracking new developments that pg e revealed they found 10,000 problems. The problems were discovered between november and may during instebgtio inspections in areas with high fire danger. The company said most of the dangerous issues have been fixed at this point, and pg e rapmped up instrebgtions and repairs to represent being the cause of more wildfires.
