One line fell in a lane on highway 24 and the other knocked out power to 700 customers. It was a chaotic holiday morning for Business Owners. I just arrived and almost had a heart attack. I thought what is happening . Is going on . I found out. Pg e restored power to all customers after 3 30 this afternoon. A bart spokesperson said its possible the contractor and subcontractor operating the crane could be financially responsible for any claims that are filed. The coast guard and the other searchers recovered four bodies from a diving boat that caught fire and sank off the coast of southern california. They spotted four victims near the wreckage and the search continues for 26 others who were still missing. Youre about to hear rescuers answering an urgent mayday call early this morning. Listen. Your vessel is on fire, is that correct . Roger. Can you get back on board and unlock the boat, unlock the door to get off . Five crew members escaped from the burning vessel, the conception. One is among the missing. The five surviving crew members jumped into the Pacific Ocean while the 75foot long boat burned and sank and another boat picked them up. You can see where it happened on this map off santa cruz island. A fire chief describes the fiery scene rescuers faced when they raced to save the passengers. They encountered a fully involved wooden ves l. The crews were actively fighting the fire when the vessel began to sink at approximately 7 20 a. M. Passengers had booked trips aboard the conception to go scuba diving off the channel islands. They were supposed to come home this morning. Anchored less than 400 yards away, bob and Shirley Hanson woked up to panicked crew members that jumped overboard. Their boat, the grape escape helped rescue those five surviving crew members. One had a broken leg and another a twisted ankle. Its overwhelming and settling in as to the horror in your mind as to what went o when those people, 34 people trapped under beneath couldnt get out. The boat fire hit close to home for the hansons. Their daughter and soninlaw had taken dive trips on the conception in the past, that very boat and a scuba instructor cannot believe the boat hes been on half a dozen times would have any trouble with safety but he told abc 7 News Reporter kris reyes that the conception and its crew were admired and respected in the diving community. The captain and the crew do an excellent job informing people of the safety equipment. They tell everybody where the fire extinguishers are. There is more than one fire extinguisher on board, as much as they also indicate where the life vests are and the exits for evacuation are located, as well. Thats the experience gilroy Business Owner and veteran diver munos had. The boat engulfed in flames with dozens of divers inside. Have only one thought in mind and thats that the fire had to have happened so fast that it didnt give any chance to the people who were sleeping at 3 00 or around 3 00 a chance to get to escape. He remembers exiting the boat from the sleeping quarters only took seconds with two easy to access routes, a set of stairs and escape ha right here inside the boat there is stairs that go from the bunk area to the kitchen in the main galley. As you can see, the area is well lit and right around this area is where the hatch is located. He is one of the founders of the Scuba Diving Club cali divers. He says the community is devastated. I cant remember a single tragic event that comes close to the loss of more than 30 scuba divers in a single incident. I think this is an event of global proportions. In gilroy, kris reyes. Something that sounds like a childrens story is becoming a serious problem for one lafayette homeowner. A trio of wild pigs continues their overnight invasions of his backyard leaving behind an awful lot of damage. Laura anthony has the story. There is all these three. Reporter you heard that right, three little pigs but its been no fairy tale for carson lee. I saw them come through the wire mesh looks like it was lifted up. Reporter he knows he just cant call the big bad wolf. For the past week its bedtime for the trio as they feast and leave behind a mangled mess on the lawn. I think they are looking for grubs, they basically dig up the grass and they just leave these giant holes in our lawn. Reporter lees surveillance cameras captured the pigs on several occasions over the past seven days. They apparently gain access to his backyard via a small hole in a metal fence. I put these blocks here to block them. Reporter its hard to tell how big they are but an expert trapper in Santa Clara County said they can be more than just a nuisance. Do not try to adopt them. They are wild animals. They are unpredictable and can be dangerous at times. It been so hot lately, a lot of the water has dried up up in the hills where they normally would stay. Reporter in san jose, the city counsel made it legal for an expert with a state permit to trap and shoot wild pigs after a series of wild invasions in gulf courses and residential areas but the laws vary by city and county. For now, at least, lee has opted for a nonviolent method of remediation, a motion detector sprinkler that he hopes will simply scare the pigs away. So tonight youre going to give this baby a try . Were going to give it a try and i got a camera focused on it so hopefully well have new footage to show you. [ laughter ] reporter the expert we talked with said dont count on the sprinkler to scar away the bigs for a long time. Most of it will stay along the coastline and clear inland with overnight lows in the 50s to low 60s and here is the forecast animation showing you how that fog makes its push out over the bay. Morning computers 5 00 tomorrow will not encounter much in the way of reduced visibility, just a little fog over the bay. Thats about it.
