Thats where traffic is getting by. This is already causing well over hourlong delays on westbound 80 through berkeley and emeryville. Consider alternate routes this morning. This morning ghost ship Master TenantDerick Almena is in jail following a split decision in the involuntarily manslaughter trial. 29yearold max harris was found not guilty yesterday. The jury was hung, unable to reach a verdict for almena. He faces a possible retrial. He already has a hearing set for october 4th. A civil suit is definitely moving forward. That trial was set for may, but that could change if there is another criminal trial. Families of the victims filed that civil suit alleging pg e, the warehouse landlord, the city of oakland and others are all responsible for the deadly 2016 fire. As almena remains locked up in jail, 29yearold harris is free. As abc 7 News Reporter reporter no long walk from the front door to a waiting car for max harris. The man who once faced 39 years in prison left privately as a free man. Whats next . Healing. Thats all i can predict. Some real food, the comfort and support of his friends at any hour. Reporter friend and longtime supporter Danielle Silva said she always knew harris was innocent. He acted as creative director of the ghost ship. Arrested and charged with Involuntary Manslaughter the summer following the deadly fire. On thursday after a month long trial, harris was acquitted on all 36 counts, one for each person killed.
