And tomorrow night especially the winds in our hills will begin to crank rapidly to 40 miles an hour. It is for that fact a redflag warning will go into Effect Tomorrow evening lasting through wednesday morning for the strong wind gusts bringing not only warm but also very dry air causing low humidity. So fires can easily start and easily spread. Here are the communities under that redflag warning. In the north bay you can see from clear lake, down to fairfield. Over to san anselmo, clover dale, east bay hills is part of the redflag warning. Orinda, sunol, close to san jose. Well take a closer look, not only the hot temperatures coming our way, but the wind as well and when this fire danger will lessen in the accuweather sevenday forecast, guys, in a little bit. As a result of the high fire danger, tonight pg e is notifying thousands of its customers here in Northern California, including some in the north bay, that their power may be shut off as a safety precaution. Reporter yeah, dion, eric, we learned some could have their power cut in the next 24 hours due to high fire danger. Some folks tell us they cant afford to lose power at all. We are monitoring the hot and windy weather in the north bay and in the sierra foothills. Reporter pg e is notifying more than 33,000 customers in Sonoma County, 10 now in napa county, and 12,000 customers in lake county that their power would likely be shut off starting late monday afternoon to prevent the ignition of wildfires. 68,000 customers across six counties in the sierra foothills are getting the same alerts. The utility admits it is an extreme move. We understand and appreciate how turning off the power affects people and may create hardships. But this is for safety during a heightened fire risk. Reporter but Maria Higgins says she cant lose her power. My husband has copd and we cant not have the power. We have to have he has to have it. He needs oxygen. Reporter but others remember how a fierce firestorm devastated Sonoma County two years ago im for it. Im willing to have my power shut off. Several friends lost their homes. Not a pretty sight. Reporter the Santa Rosa Fire Department plans to increase Staffing Levels at fire stations this week when fire danger will be high. Here we are almost two years later from the tubbs fire and were right back at a redflag warning. We definitely want the public to Pay Attention, be prepared. We are definitely monitoring the situation, but ultimately want to be prepared for the potential of another fire. The utility is also acknowledging tonight that north bay residents did not get a 48hour notice about the power shut off because, they say, its forecast models indicated there just wasnt time that to give that much notion. In the south bay a string of wildfires in the hills above milpitas are keeping a road closed near the calaveras reservoir. There are a total of six fires cal fire is dealing with. They have burned 128 acres and are 70 contained. Those fires all started at about noontime yesterday and forced the closure of calaveras road. Cal fire says rocks are rolling onto the road and it is not sure when it will reopen. There is no word on what caused those fires. In video, youll see only on abc7 news, a man was caught jumping from roof to roof in the outer mission. Witnesses say he refused to get down for several hours as San FranciscoPolice Negotiators talked to him. Abc7 News Reporter luz pena has this story. Reporter holding onto the molding of the walls of this house after being caught jumping from one roof to the next for approximately four hours, this man had many in the Mission Neighborhood concerned. He seemed like he was that he had problems. No shoes, nothing. The 200 bed center is being built on the embarcadero at beal street. A judge two weeks ago denied another claim from the opponents. High pressure off the coast line and low pressure over southern calfornia. These two are really just opposing forces. What will happen, it will create that wind tunnel effect over Northern California and that wind is aimed right at the bay area. So starting tomorrow night, that redflag warning will go into effect really for the north bay mountains and east bay hills along our ridge stops. Thats where we could see gusts close to 40 miles per hour. Not going to drag in warm air and lower our humidity to bone dry level.
