Developing news, San Mateo Police are investigating a shooting that involves officers who injured two suspects. Police say they were patrolling the parking lot of the Hillsdale Shopping Center when they spotted a car they bieve was stolen. The driver and second suspect led officers on a chase and threw credit cards out of the car along south el camino real. The suspects hit another car and ended up in a culdesac. Officers got out of the car and approached them. That is when the suspects drove their car towards officers and one officer opened fire injuring them. Detectives are trying to answer questions in their investigation. Why were they throwing credit cards out of the car. What is up with the vehicle in question. Theyre checking the vin number, tbeicense plates thadndit our Investigations Bureau will be working around the clock on this to find out what exactly was happening. Its unclear what conditions the suspects are currently in. Abc 7 mornings reporter luz pena spoke with witnesses. Rapid gunshots at least 15 to 20 and heard a ton of cop cars and ambulances and stuff. Reporter the shooting took place right across from her building. She described the scene as chaotic with at least 30 officers asking residents to move out of the way. From our balcony we could see there was a white car parked down the street and it clearly had been shot. There were two windows that were missing. Reporter according to witnesses two people inside the white vehicle in question were taken to hospital. Some of the officers and paramedics leaning down on the ground so i think the people were already on the ground and put them into the ambulances and drove away. Reporter luz pena abc 7 news. New overnight police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in petaluma. It happened around 8 00 last night in the parking lot of the petaluma village premium outlets. Police say they received several reports of gunshots and a car crash. When officers arrived they found a man inside a car who had been shot and tried to save him but were unsuccessful. Police believe the man did not die by suicide. A suspect has not been identified. In the north bay a fire in Sonoma County is under control after forcing some evacuations. Flames sparked just before 3 00 yesterday afternoon. You can see on the map along highway 121 near schellville. It ripped through an event center that also has some residences. Reporter marc foley spoke out of fear as he watched the fastmoving fire whip across garden Pavilion Event Center. He lives in the victorian house which ended up being spared. A good quarter of the property or more is gone. Reporter cal fire dumped water on the blaze which forced 100 people to evacuate and shut down two weddings at Cornerstone Gardens and a 70th Birthday Party at the pavilion. You can see party hats, wine, food, left behind as guests ran. They set up tables. Thats completely gone. All these barns all in the front are completely gone. All the vehicles are completely gone. And the shed building is completely gone. Reporter the fire started in this ditch on state road 121 in front of the Pavilion Event Center and across from Gloria Ferrer winery. It headed south and the wind picked it up and pushed it into a building. I guess the lord picked today to have the wind the way it was. This is the windiest its been in weeks. Reporter the wind only added to the list of problems firefighters faced. Just trying to figure out where its going with the smoke laying on the ground, blowing like it was, trying to do the evacuations, covering the different roads making sure that it hadnt gotten through, didnt ember cast out on us. Reporter roads were closed and traffic was diverted out of the fire zone. For evacuees this brings back vivid memories from the north bay fires. Happening today, a Memorial Service will be held for one of the victims of julys mass shooting at the gilroy garlic festival. 26yearold trevor irby was among three People Killed can on july 28th at Christmas Hill park. He was visiting from upstate new york. The memorial will take place at Keuka College which is in new york states finger lakes region. Irby recently graduated from the school. It was quite the spectacle yesterday morning at the stony point road pumpkin patch. When officers arrived looking for 29yearold ryan kenneth watt. He is accused of violating a restraining orderer by stalking his former girlfriend online in person and using a gps tracker secretly planted on her car. Petaluma police tried arresting watt at a homeless camp. That is when police say watt ran across all lanes of highway 101 and sought refuge in the corn maze. This is our warmest time of year in San Francisco with the average high of 70. Were starting out clear but numbers have bottomed out into the 30s and 40s in many locations. An area of low pressure, a system rotating to the north of us, a piece of it, and a piece of energy sliding down into the bay area today could offer up a shower or two. Mainly for the north bay.
