Lets look outside at the bay bridge toll plaza. All sold out. Metering lights on at 5 20. Normal timing for this morning. Back towards the macarthur maze. The carpool lanes are getting by without delay. Best if you can to carpoo a decent drive, about 45 to 50 minutes up and over the Altamont Pass. Otherwise were in the green. Exception is southbound 880 near hegenberger. Two right lane es blocked becau of an accident. Theyre getting by okay. A look at your transit, no delays as far as i can tell. B. A. R. T. Is running on time. No delays with ace train and everybody in muni is looking good so far this morning. Thank you. Lets start with the story weve been following since 1 00 this morning. A wildfire forced people from moraga from their homes overnight. At this hour some evacuation orders have been lifted and some people have been able go back home. Jobina fortson is live in moraga with some people who had to evacuate. Good morning. The good news is that people are able go home. I want you all to take a peek behind me inside the Evacuation Center here where the power is completely out. Its been out since 10 00 or 11 00 last night. The American Red Cross truck is here. Theyre loading everything back inside. They provided drinks, restrooms, snacks for people standing out in the cold and in the parking lot. Its been a long night here and morning. I want you to see the flames going to through the hills there in moraga. I talked with the fire chief who tells me anywhere between 40 and 60 acres has burned in the hills. The fire right now is at 70 for containment. Everything is under control. Officers and firefighters went door to door waking people up this morning and in one family case they went ahead and left because a neighbor came by and said there was a fire. The fire chief tells me this was a very close call. Fire encroaching immediately against the property, several fences were burned, that gives you an idea how close the fire got to those homes. Our pow is out. It went out 11 00 p. M. Last night. Did that make things more challenging . A little bit. You go to flick on the switch out of habit, nothing comes on. So we had because the power did go out, we knew it before we nt bed, we had flashlights ready and whatnot. The cause of the fire is under investigation. I asked the fire chief since so many evacuees were telling us they had to go down this wipndy road in the dark, if the power being out impacted them in any way. He said no because of the time of day that it happened it was dark any way, so this is just a routine for them and because of the power tage, they actually had extra firefighters any way on staffeady to go. So they were in a better position for this fire. For now reporting live in moraga, jobina fortson, abc7 news. Thank you for that update. Another story weve been following is that massive pg e safety power cutoff. We did get some new numbers. Drew tuma is following that for us. Reggie and kooumasi, we have been tracking those numbers since pg e implemented phase one yesterday afternoon and also phase wo ovtwo overnight. They cut power in the east bay, the peninsula, south bay and santa cruz counties in phrase two. Power went out about 11 00 last night. Pg e cut power to the south bay around midnight. Pg e has a new website where you can check your address or an address of someone you may know and see the status of their power. We heard from many of you its been hard to access this website. We have been able to access this website this morning. You look up your address. It will pop up a new window. What you can do, you can either type in an ac a location you know, or you can type in a city. Well type in moraga. We have been tracking that wildfire since earlier this morning. Pg e has a broader map you can use. All these icons have different colors. You see a lot of purple on the screen. That means you are without power this morning. Coming up at 6 45 a. M. , we will be talking live with an official from pg e and they might be able to give us some information on when this power may come back where you live. You with find these links on our website, abc7news. Com or on pg es social media pages. Thanks for that. Pg e launched this new site ter the original one just kept crashing. Our sincere apologies for the impact of not having the pg e. Com website available. We understand and appreciate the patience of customers and communities. Pg e officials thanked people for their patience multiple times during this press conference last night. The company says the website is designed to handle heavy traffic, unlike the one you see here on your screen. And there are some local authorities who are telling folks that the power could start coming on im cautious about saying that. I just mean the process of starting to have that power come on as early as this afternoon. Yeah. So many people right now are starting their day. They have no power in the east bay. Amy hollyfield, you are live in lafayette where theres no power there for people. It is so dark out here. The lights went out at 10 45 last night. Businesses like this gas station are closed. We met some firefighters and Police Officers who are on duty. Theyre looking for coffee, thats not happening. Nothing will be open in lafayette. Its dark. Plenty of people stocked up on ice. They were also busy clearing out the Hardware Stores the last few days. Everybody took everything. Do you have any flashlights left . No. No flashlights left. We even went to a point where we were selling the Outdoor Solar lights. They got all the refrigerator ice packs that we had. They got cantles. Every candle we have. Then over there, we practically sold out of our ice chests. Even the very expensive ice chest. How much does that one cost . Like 300. Heres video from the caldecott tunnel. This is last night. This is after the power had been shut down. It is open. It will be open for your commute. There was talk they may shut it down when the power went out but they got generators going and its open. Right now the Contra Costa Sheriffs Office is saying the power could be starting to come back on around noon today. But then also said pg e adds that it could take one to five days to get all the power back on. As you know, just stay tuned and roll with whatever happens. There was a chance maybe this afternoon you will get your power back. Live in lafayette, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. There is a little bit of hope there.
