Its going to clear and well look for a Sunny Afternoon. 44 in petaluma with 50 in live more. Were a couple of degrees warmer in some locations. That has to do with the added moisture in the air. Here is a look at the current relative humidity at the surface. It looks pretty good, 50 to 60 , even 90 . In the upper elevations still cry, it always is this time of year. One person is dead and two others hurt after a crash that happened just before 11 30 last night in unincorporated contra costa county. A car tried to pass another car on delta road. The speeding car overcorrected and hit another car. The driver of the speeding car was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was flown to the Trauma Center in walnut creek. The driver who was hit had minor juri injuries. Police are investigating a body found in a parked car in south san jose on bose lane at Camden Avenue just before 4 00 p. M. Yesterday. According to a Facebook Group titled find erin valenti, this is the same area where the 33yearold tech ceo disappeared. Her family filed a missing persons report when she vanished monday night. It says power was restored to all 738,000 customers by 6 00 last night. Bay area customers got power back yesterday morning. The shutoffs were called for because of red flag weather conditions. Pg es president and ceo spoke publicly again about the shutoffs and acknowledged things didnt go as planned. I think i and the company have been forthright discussing shortcomings in this event, things we were not prepared for. We will fix those. Pg e says it found 50 instances of weatherrelated damage or hazard during its planned outage. The utility says its looking at more instances, and the damage could have potentially caused a wildfire. Many people are still trying to get back to normal. At uc berkeley, some graduate students struggled in the aftermath of the power outage especially in the fields of science whose proects were dependent on power. Abc 7 News Reporter anser hassan reports. Reporter sarah morris says pg es power outage may have destroyed two years of her Cancer Research valued at 500,000. I kind of had a moment of thinking, is my thesis going to include the lines, i did thi but it got wiped out because of a power outage, please let me graduate . Reporter shes studying how to fight certain forms of cancer. She says pg e assured uc berkeley that the power would stay on but she was left with half a to find a way to keep her eerimen going when pg e announced the power would be cut. Some of her cells were removed to special tanks. Some were taken to ucsf, as uc berkeley scrambled to divert its power to keep research running. Pg e says, we also had frequent communications with these customers before, during, and after the psps event to support their eventspecific preparedness and address restoration prioritization requests and other needs. The icon satellite was launched thursday night over the atlantic. But Mission Control was at cal Space Sciences laboratory. Uc berkeley was able to supply enough power to track the satellite buduring its first passes over california. The launch had already been pushed back from last june. A second person was killed in this mobile Home Community that was quickly overcome by flames. And this morning in los angeles county, mandatory evacuation orders are lifted. Everything from their photography business destroyed. We lost our home and work. Reporter and yet, they say theyre grateful. The things dont matter. Its being together and living through it. We have our lives and our health. Thats all that matters. Reporter their neighbors are thankful too, because other than these two houses, firefighters were able to save every other home in this community. A clear reminder of how wildfires can evolve and create their own weather. Abc 7 news was in menlo park yesterday where the fire nato truck made an appearance. The truck was caught in the redding area wildfire last year. It created a firenado that had wind speeds that measured 147 miles per hour, wiping out just about erything in its path. Organizers of yets event say they hope the truck can provide a teaching moment. So people who werent there, people who didnt live through that, can come here and see it and understand how prevention, preparedness for themselves, what would they need to do to survive an event like that if it happened to them. Bedlam broke out inside a New Hampshire church after a man stormed the church with a gun and opened fire at a wedding that happened inside yesterday morning at the new england pentecostal ministries in pelham. Both victims survived the encounter. Wedding guests took matters into their own hands to stop the shooter. From my understanding, they basically gangtackled him, a struggle ensued, minor injuries occurred to the other guests who confronted the shooter. The shooter is identified as 37yearold dale hall owe way. Police say his relationship to the wedding guests is under investigation. Burlingame residents held a simulation yesterday on how to respond to a major disaster. Its the seventh year the Burlingame Neighborhood Network organized the drill with the help of local first responders. There was a key message here, how peopl can help themselves when resources are stretched then. To be selfsufficient and take care of the little emergencies like knowing how to turn off the gas, shut off the water, knowing basic first aid skills and cpr, and being able to mitigate small emergencies while were out on the big ones. Firefighters say it can go a long way in times of crisis and disaster. Thursday is the 30th anniversary of the massive loma prieta quake. On a lighter note, San Francisco is packed with people all ready to have some fun for this weeks fleet week air show over San Francisco bay. Abc 7 News Reporter Cornell Barnard was there to get the crowds reaction. Reporter cellphones were pointed skyward as the navys parachute team kicked off this weeks air show. These guys nailed a perfect landing. Its my first visit, im just thrilled. An inside loop and he pulls it off reporter pilots testing their limits with daredevil acrobatics. That kind of made me a little dizzy. Reporter check out this boeing 777 jet putting on a show over the bay. A Million People are here this weekend, for one reason yep, blue angels. Its great to see them come so close by you feel them when they go through. This is very exciting. Reporter amazing, right . Yeah. Blue angels are an iconic part of fleet week. They have six jets, f18s. They fly as close as 18 inches wingtip to wingtip. I love it. Ive been wait to go to an air show with the blue angels fover. Reporter this family from monterey wouldnt miss it. We both served in the navy. Were always inspired by air shows. Looking at that sea breeze, a Sunny Afternoon with the high clouds around from time to time. Temperatures will be nearing average for the week ahead. Its cooler downtown, 66. Out of the 70s, but a nice day. The next 48 hours, the fog pretty much stays away from the coast. Overnight tonight into your monday morning, marin county and san mateo, it pulls back for a Sunny Afternoon. Then into monday afternoon, monday night, its there, but its just very shallow. Into Tuesday Morning well have it along the coast. Could even see some early drizzle tomorrow morning. Then again by the middle of the week as this system rides a little bit close. Its getting into Northern California come wednesday and thursday. So we could squeeze out a little drizzle wednesday and into thursday. Otherwise, slightly cooler the end of the week. As for today, upper 60s downtown. 71 in oakland. San mateo, mid70s. Thats about average in san jose, near 80 out towards antioch. Upper 70s in santa rosa. With the relative humidity up a little b, the atmosphere holds onto that moisture. The overnight lows are somewhat mitigated. We should see them a little more comfortable instead of that dry, dry air, allowing them to drop into the 30s.
