We spoke to many sonoma residents who told us theyre not looking forward to the shutoff, but they are ready. Yes, its only tuesday, but these might be the last burgers coming out of west hand made burgers in sonoma for the week. What we do is buy a half or quarter cow. Then i bring it in here and butcher everything. Reporter and thats not happening today. He opened up his restaurant six months ago. During the last power shutoff, he lost over 8,000 in produce. The last time i threw out all three of these fridges. All of them. Oh, insurance takes care of it. Insurance doesnt take care of any of that. You know, were not going to put in a claim for it. Our insurance will go up. Well have to pay a huge deductible on it. Its just a loss, like straight across the board. Reporter during the early october power shutoff the Sonoma Chamber of commerce estimates millions of dollars in losses. About 95 of businesses here were closed. Businesses are starting to respond. Theyre getting backup generation because at this point we cant rely on pg e to provide Reliable Electric Service to our community. What are we seeing . This is the diesel generator itself. Power lines lead right to the units that are permanent here attached to the building. We would rather be the first and be prepared. Reporter these two generators are what this local hotel is hoping will save them again come wednesday evening. Going back to gary, hes also waiting on a generator that hes supposed to get on thursday, a day after the potential shutoff. All in all, its its hard. In napa county about 7500 people could lose power in the cities of angina win, calistoga, il, pope valley, erryessa, napa, rutherford, st. Helena and yountville. In san mateo county, about 900 customers could be affected if there was a per shutoff in the cities of emerald hills, half moon bay, la honda, loma mar, pescader pescadero, portola valley, san gregorio and woodside. The governor has addressed pg e for not addressing problems with the last shutoff. He demands they improve communication with consumers like when the power will be shut off and restored. For decades they have invested in hardening their infrastructure. Were here because of their greed. Were here because of their mismanagement going back decades. Now to the north bay where a teenager is in custody this afternoon accused of shooting another teen during an argument as several witnesses looked on. Incident happened near the campus of Ridgway High School in santa rosa. Abc 7 News Reporter Leslie Brinkley has the story. Reporter at 8 56, the 911 call came in. A student shot in front of the school. By 9 12 a. M. , santa rosa high school, Santa Rosa Junior College and Ridgway High School were all in lockdown mode. Officers learned that the shooter had hande the gun to another individual and that individual left the School Campus with that firearm. The shooter actually returned to a classroom there on the Ridgway High School campus. Reporter the cops came in and had their guns pointing at us. Eporter little did sophi ferguson know that the boy sitting next to her for the twohour lockdown was the suspected gunman, until he was actually arrested. Probably like 20 cops, or 14 cops had their guns and searched us and tolds to put our hands up. Yeah, it was scary. We all kind of just ducked under the table and tried to stay calm as much as we could. Some people were calling their parents. Others would call their friends just to checkup on them and see if they were okay. I was terrified. I panick reporte b 11 30 it was over. Two suspects were detained, one released. The other, a juvenile believed to be the gunman, could face attempted murder charges. The 16yearold boy who was shot twice in the upper body is expected to survive and is in stable condition. Meanwhile police are still searching for the backpack with the weapon in it that Surveillance Video sho was tossed in the back of a car that drove away from campus. Those assaults caught on camera which police say did help solve the case. Vic lee is live in chinatown with new details on this story. Vic. San Francisco Police are investigating a hitandrun crash in the Bayview District involving a muni bus. Sky 7 was over the scene where officers say a 31yearold man driving a sedan hit the bus and then took off around 1 00 p. M. Police found the driver and arrested him a few blocks away. Six people were hurt and went to the hospital. They are all expected to be okay. Contra costa county supervisors today decided to explore whether fuel Storage Facilities should be regulated like refineries and chemical plants. This after the new star Energy Facility explosion and subsequent fire in crockt last tuesday. Sky 7 was over that facility again today where investigators were on the groundin. The mercury news reports the Fire Protection chief presented problems like not being notified of the explosion by the facility itself and the Fire Suppression system was not immediately activated. We are glad to say no one was hurt. San jose has announced a new plan to double the amount of electric vehicle charging stations throughout the city. So how exactly do officials hope to do this . Chris nguyen has the story now from the south bay. Reporter as electric vehicles grow in popularity, many in the city say getting one isomething to consider. Obviously the environment isnt the best right now. Its not going to get any better. Reporter others arent too sure. Vehicles are still pricey as they are for gas. Can you imagine getting electric because they think its electric and you have to pay more. I dont know. I just dont see anything in that. Reporter but in san jose, officials have announced a new effort to double the amount of electric vehicle charging stations throughout the city over the next two to four years. Its going to be essential for all of our climate goals as well as our efforts to reduce air pollution to get more electric vehicles out there. Reporter in partnership with the California Energy commission the city plans to sdrkt million to in sent ivize them. Super chargers can fully charge a car in 30 to 40 minutes. This will be a huge boost to the sales of evs in this area. Reporter fred says hell track it locally. I certainly would like to see the cities become more proactive in making these charging stations available to the public. Reporter and perhaps those on the fence may eventually come around. A Placer County company shared these etiquette tips for ev drivers. They advise drivers to only occupy a charging spot while your car is being charged, then unplug and move. Or consider leaving a note to let others know when its okay to unplug. Some customers say its okay for someone else to unplug their car once its charged, although many require using a key so this tip dont work for everyone. It is 89 in santa rosa, 78 in San Francisco, 80 in oakland, 84 san jose, livermore you can definitely feel the warmth out there as those temperatures above average for this time of year. A few high wispy clouds and really light winds and waves. Gusty winds develop tomorrow night. Increasing fire danger the next two days and were looking at a warm, dry pattern right on through friday. So lets talk about this red flag warning. North bay, east bay and the Santa Cruz Mountains all going under that red flag warning wednesday afternoon through thursday afternoon. Were basically looking at northnortheasterly winds that could gust as high as possibly 60 miles an hour. Combine that with low relative humidity and really dry vegetation and that means extreme fire behavior is possible, especially if any fires develop, so definitely stay vigilant out there. Tomorrow night 5 00 p. M. Its not terribly windy but starts to get a little breezy in the north bay hills at 5 00 p. M. Then those winds ramp up. 10 00 p. M. Youre looking at 35 to 40mileperhour winds as we head toward the Early Morning hours thursday. 3 00 a. M. , those gusty winds remain into thursday mornings commute. 8 00 a. M. Its still pretty breezy and then those winds will slowly subside thursday afternoon and evening but fire danger will remain high. Clear skies first thing in the morning. Temperatures ranging from the 40s through the 50s for most of you. And then in the afternoon its going to be a warm one in the south bay. 89 in gilroy, santa clara on the peninsula youre looking at temperatures ranging from the low 80s around millbrae to the mid80s in los altos. 83 san mateo. Downtown San Francisco 80 degrees. 75 in daly city. So mild near the coast, warm around the bay and inland. In the north bay 86 san rafael, napa, 90 in santa rosa.
