Meantime lakeville highway outside of petaluma is back open after a deadly head on crash leaving the road closed for hours yesterday. That crash involved an opentopped jeep and calfire suv. The man driving the jeep was ejected from the car and died at the scene. The firefighter behind the wheel of the suv was taken to santa rosa Memorial Hospital with mouret injures, expected to be okay. And the kincade fire is 7 oh contained this morning according to the latest update from calfire. 174 homes destroyed, and nearly 78,000 acres have been burned. Some mandatory evacuation orders do remain in effect. But calfire says because firefighters are making good progress, they are continuing efforts to repopulate the area. Many were evacuated by the win cade fire and many returned home no refrigerators of food spoiled by the pro longed power shutoff. We were seeing distressed individuals wondering how to replace food. And for many people who lost wamgs because they were out of work for the time power was out. The same organization threw together a food give away on short notice serving 1,000 people. And people in the south bay are also pitching in to help fire victims. The efforts in san jose expanded to include the assistance of nonprofits and amazon.
