That burned during intense winds and prompted evacuations. The fire marshal said a transformer failed sending sparks into the brush and igniting spot fires across town. The kincade fire is now fully contained, though it will still be a while before the fire is out completely. It burned nearly 78,000 acres and destroyed 174 homes. All evacuations have been lifted. However, a Public Health order is still in place in Sonoma County because of the Hazardous Waste left by the fire. County officials are working out where people can safely dispose of debris. Tomorrow is the First Anniversary of the deadliest wildfire in california history, the camp fire. It killed 85 people and flames destroyed most of the town of paradise. Now paradise residents are rebuilding their homes, businesses, and lives. Vanessa abo vanessa with our abc sister station in fresno tells you more. Reporter almost one year since these towns were consumed by fire. Remnants of businesses can be found on the main roads. Neighborhoods are filled with empty lots. People were astonished at the level of destruction, but i prefer not to look back. Im looking forward. What good does it do to look back . Reporter the mayor prefers to focus on the progress. If you compare it to other federally declared disasters, nobody has done the things we have done in a year. Reporter signs of resilience can be found as soon as you enter town. Within the first seven months of the camp fire, paradise finished a longterm Recovery Plan and had already received more than 400 Building Permit applications. We have issued almost 300. We have nine homes that have been totally rebuilt and people have occupied them. Reporter according to femas website, the agency has approved more than 79 million in Financial Assistance to survivors in butte county. During the effort to rebuild many are living in nearby cities using Disaster Assistance and insurance payments. We see ourselves as pioneers. We are rebuilding this town from scratch and we are not going away. Thvanessa also tells us crew have relied on generators to power their tools because pg e has shut off the electricity in paradise four different times to prevent more wildfires. A look at the weather now. Gray and murky out there. Really hazy. Thats true. These current weather conditions are bringing fire concerns down a little bit. We have got a lot of lingering fog and onshore flow right now which is fairly brisk. Breezier on the bay. Wind speeds of 15 Miles Per Hour or higher. The School Called police after finding the world School Shooting 12 00 p. M. As that time approached police were positioned around the campus, but an hour and a half later police lifted that lockdown saying there was no identified credible threat. A district spokesperson says the lockdown was done as a precautionary measure. We are going to do everything we can to make sure the kids are safe. This was very precautionary, but we are confident that its what we needed to do, absolutely. The district sent a notice to parent about the incident. Many showed up to pick up their kids. Fishermen are preparing to drop their crab pots . Reporter yes, they are. And you can see the crab pots here. They are taller than i am, stacked six high and stretch as far as the eye can see. Last years catch was Something Like 19 million pounds. Last year and past years crab fishermen have dealt with issues including the toxin and a warm pool of water in the ocean which they dubbed the blob. This year its the whale migration. Jim anderson is checking his lines and getting ready for crab season. The commercial season has been delayed again, although only by a week because of the presence of blue whales in monterey bay. We found four. They were outside of where we are throwing the gear. Reporter to prevent the whales from getting entangled in crab lines the harvest begins november 22nd, the weekend before thanksgiving. We hope the migration has begun and the whales clear out of this area. Reporter the sports season for crab started last saturday and fishermen are having no problem meeting their limit of ten. They tell us they are solid with meat weighing 1. 5 to 2. 5 pounds. Everybody is your best friend when you have dungeness crab. Reporter lets put it this way. It looks mighty fine to me. What hasnt been set is the price for this seasons crab catch. Several factors come into play, including Competition Among fishermen. We dont know how many will come down. Reporter another concern is. Limited number of days between the start of the season and thanksgiving. There are three working days for buyers andso so that may limit the availability of crab to consumers unless they buy it off the bet. Die hard San Franciscoans want crab and turkey for thanksgiving. There was a special ground making ceremony today in San Francisco for the presidio tunnel tops project. Thats the name of a 14 acre park being built on top of the roadway tunnels in the presidio located near the walt disney family field. Nancy pelosi was the first to scoop up freshly dug soil at the site and toss it on to the tunnel tops to kick off construction of this 98 million park. This is something quite spectacular, and it takes us to a new level. An example for the rest of the country. A new level of beauty, inspiration. You have probably seen the video by now. A man fell on to the tracks at the coliseum station following the raiders game on sunday and a bart supervisor, john oconnor, pulled that man to safety just moments before the train approached. Yeah, the raiders will honor oconnor before tonights game against the chargers. Oconnor downplayed being a hero when he joined abc7 on midday live. You are so chill. You are like, you know, i am not a hero. But we are looking at that video and we are like, we cant believe you saved this mans life. I dont know. Im speechless. Lke i said, i have been saying it, its what im supposed to do. Its what we do at bart daily. All my coworkers at the time you dont have time to think. You just do something, you know. Dont reach for your phone. Do something. Yeah. I mean, obviously, that sparked some emotion in you when you think about that moment. You know it could have gone either way . Yeah.
