San francisco residents and Business Owners on Treasure Island have been dealing with on and off power issues the past week. The aging infrastructure is partially to blame, but some fear there is no end in sight. Treasure island has some of the best views in the city but living here comes with frustrations. We have to throw away the milk and all that stuff every time just to be safe. We yeah, we have to go out to eat instead of cooking here and that costs more money. The power initially went off on tuesday when a transmission line from the port of oakland failed impacting some 2,000 customers across the island. The San Francisco Public Utilities commission which is responsible for maintaining the aging infrastructure then switched over to a back up generator. But neighbors say it ran out of fuel which prompted another outage in the middle of the week. Then on friday, the generator failed. The Treasure Island Development Authority owns the Power Infrastructure which was inherited from the navy. Its not fair to the residents. This whole mess needs to be fixed. And not next week.
