We have showers in the east bay, mt. Hamilton, Higher Elevations. Much of the north bay is dry. You see sfo now, its 57 in san jose. Looking at a lot of cloudy skies here from our east bay. Numbers in the mid50s from santa rosa to the low 50s. Fog at two miles in petaluma. As the system winds down well see temperatures in a narrow range today, upper 50s to near 60. Partly cloudy skies tonight. And were not going to be talking about a lot of rain in the next seven days. So well talk about rain totals next time we see you, liz. Thanks, lisa. It was a much different story yesterday. Water was everywhere. This is new video here showing 18th and castro yesterday afternoon. The street and sidewalk looked like a river, water flowing past packed cars there. This is a muni rail station with water cascading down the elevator. Muni service was shut down for a while. Abc 7 News Reporter luz pena has more on how neighbors are dealing with the impact. Reporter there was major flooding across the city. Example number one, market street. Getting off i80, another flood. This one blocking traffic, stopping cars on the freeway. Someone had vaguely mentioned in passing that this neighborhood gets flooded, but we didnt know it was going to be this bad. Reporter in a matter of minutes, 15th avenue in San Franciscos west portal neighborhood flooded, affecting 12 homes. By the time residents realized how high it was getting, they didnt have time to get sandbags. Not with how fast it came. The city is great in dropping off pallets to us but it came on too quickly from us. Reporter across the street we met the cervantes family. They had balloons and tables set up. Cleaning was not in their plans. This was their sons second birthday. Instead theyre faced with this. I see so much of this is wet. Its gone. Well have to replace everything. The bed didnt get wet, at least we have a bed to sleep on. Reporter the Silver Lining across the neighborhood where shovels were found in every corner, neighbors helping with their bare hands, trying to get their street back to normal. They were walking on the sidewalk when the tree fell at locust and clay street. For a time the Fire Department urged people to avoid the area. You can see the soil around the roots is saturated. Both people hit by the tree said they were in pain and they were taken to the hospital. At least one parked car was damaged. The rain yesterday afternoon also caused several problems in the east bay, especially on the hills and freeways. Abc 7 News Reporter anser hassan has more from orinda where there were two highway crashes including one that was deadly. O shows westbound highway 24 before the caldecott tunnel. A solo spinout blocking one lane of traffic, possibly due to the wet roads, but causing a backup onto orinda city streets. That last bit of freeway before the offramp took me 20 minutes because everything was so backed up. Reporter once past the tunnel, the rain met with heavy winds in the oakland hills. I was home here with my mom and two of my kids. And we heard one of the loudest noises ive ever heard. Reporter the noise was several massive pine trees crashing through the roof. Nobody was hurt. Along with figuring out repairs, theyre also trying to prevent more damage. There is one wall still standing, it is leaning heavily, and we are on a slope. Abc 7 News Reporter Cornell Barnard has more on what the police say is the first officerinvolved shooting this year. I heard probably six to eight gunshots than you heard someboy yelling. I remember it being really loud. Reporter neighbors heard gunfire around 8 30 saturday morning in the mission district. Police say officers were responding to reports of a possible burglary in progress at a home here at 23rd and kapp streets. Thats when they say they encountered the suspect. The suspect assaulted the officers and an officerinvolved shooting enissued. Reporte ensued. I saw a little scuffle between two Police Officers and what appears to be an intoxicated person. Right away they let off eight shots. Reporter police say the suspect was wounded. They say the man was armed but offered few details. The suspect assaulted the officers with a weapon. Reporter can yo tell us why, what kind of a weapon . Im unable to describe or explain the type of weapon. Reporter one officer was injured in the incident, now recovering at the hospital. Police chief William Scott was at the scene for the investigation thats now under way. In San Francisco, Cornell Barnard, abc 7 news. Two families are getting 7 million each after two teens were electrocuted in a canal this past april in dixon. The solano irrigation district issued an apology for what happened. The teens had jumped into the water to try to rescue a dog. One of the mothers said the boys grabbed a metal railing on the walking bridge on the irrigation canal. They had no idea it was charged. Its unclear how the bridge became energized. The lawsuit claimed Electrical Equipment was not properly grounded. Now to the Christmas Tree unveiled at a state capital and why its brought some outrage. Abc 7 News Reporter janai norman has the details. A fedex driver was not thrilled about having to pick up a package. His meltdown was captured on the homeowners ring doorbell camera. Every single [ bleep ] day. [ bleep ]. The homeowner said she ordered a couch twice, but both times fedex delivered it damaged. She was having the company send it back. The video shows the driver trying to lift the 144pound package into the truck, swearing on the phone the entire time. He eventually got the package in and yelled one more thing at the house before driving off. [ bleep ] the homeowner says she just wants an apology. Fedex says the behavior in the video is unacceptable and its taking the appropriate steps to address this matter. A group of children wci fan flight to experience the magic of the holidays.
