Heavy Police Activity in the sunset neighborhood. Reporter Amy Hollyfield is live with what she just learned moments ago from San Francisco police. Amy . Reporter hi, good morning. Police did make an arrest here after having a standoff with a man. They are now here staging at this doughnut shop. Their officers are here gathering evidence and wrapping up their case. Three women went to a mans home willingly, they went home with him. When they wanted to leave they say he pulled a gun on them. They did manage to escape and waved down officers who then went to his apartment and tried to get him to come out. They say he was unresponsive for a couple hours. This all was going down about 2 00 this morning. They finally brought in the s. W. A. T. Team. They had been trying to communicate with him and he was nonresponsive. They do think he was under the influence and may have passed out. They did finally go to his door, went in and they say he did surrender. They have him in custody and they have a gun in custody. Now theyre interviewing these women to wrap up their case. I dont have the name but the captain estimates hes about a 35yearold man. S. W. A. T. Team involved, arrests have been made. Blue bottle coffee says the goal is for everyone to bring their own cup or pay to use one of theirs. But first the company is testing the program here in the bay area. George, julian. The ceo of Blue Bottle Coffee brian mehan says hes not afraid to admit his business is a part of the problem when it comes to ending the endless cycle of thoughtless consumption. One of his coffee shops alone can go through about 15,000 of those disposable or single use cups in just one month. Thats per cafe and by the end of next year all of these locations will no longer use the single use cups. That means youll either have to bring your own coffee cup or you can pay what theyre calling a modest deposit to use one of their reusable cups. This was a gradual change. They were using biodegradable cups and straws and learned they were still ending up in landfills. The company switched and realized that still was not enough. Now theyre going single use free. The ceo said we are proud to announce an experiment that may not work, that may cost us money and that may make your life a little bit more complicated and certainly thats how some people might feel about the issue. This decision is not all about goodwill. We should point out the company is getting ahead of sustainability ordinances like the one that will take effect here in 2021 in palo alto, a charge if restaurants give disposable cups to use here. Approval of the charges could come as soon as thursday. Kumasi . Rescue operations have now turned to recovery following this terrifying volcanic explosion. The death toll has risen to six overnight and eight missing, presumed to be dead. The volcano is on an island called white island away from the north island which includes the city of auckland. San francisco tourist Michael Schade and his family tweeted these dramatic images. 47 people were on or near the island when the volcano erupted, nine of whom are american.
