Reporter on january 11th, 2019, six teenagers crashed off lone tree way and indian hill drive in antioch. 17yearold leanna rubin and 13yearold jay, arjaia lightne killed in the crash. God spared their lives. Their lives will never be different. My neff urk was a football star. He played baseball. He lost his leg. Willies mother tearfully thanked the First Responders that helped rush willie to the hospital that night. After the crash, willie was hospitalized for 57 days. Dear god, we love you. God, we thank you, we praise you and we magnify your name. Willie stood shoulder to shoulder with neari dillworth, another crash survivor. Together they released balloons to honor the four lives that were spared and the two lives that were lost. I feel blessed that were both here. One of the last all girls catholic high schools in San Francisco was now helping students following word that the school will be closing. Some parents we spoke to at Mercy High School on 19th avenue say the announcement was a bit of a surprise. Friday night the school said in an email it would be closing in june, just a if you months ago. The school had been running on a deficit for more than two years. It also said they would have to charge an extra 5,000 in tuition to stay open. There had been rumors of turning mercy into a coed school but they say that is not an option. The school ran through possible transfer options for their current students. These are my sisters. These are my families. The thought of not being able to spend my final year of high school with them is just devastating. Five juniors started a gofundme page trying to raise 5 million to stay open. So far they have little more than 4,000 in that do fug gofu happening today, dont be alarmed if you see people riding bart without pants. New this morning a teenager is in the hospital after being shot during a High School Basketball game. It happened in dallas. The victim underwent surgery and were hearing is currently in critical condition. Look at the video. An officer with the School District was taken to the hospital after being grazed by shrapnel. She is expected to be okay. Shots were fired after a fight after the game. This is just awful. Police so far have not arrested a suspect. This morning a High School Robotics team asking for support. Thieves apparently stole their tools and computers weeks before their championship competition. We spoke to the students as they pick up the pieces at their equipment shed. They stole almost everything. Reporter this is the devastating scene the Robotics Team was welcomed with. Over here they stole computers and hand tools from the drawers. Up here we had a bunch of hand drivers. Reporter this was not the first time. Last year the Robotics Team, as they are known, built the shed on School Grounds barr they store equipment for upcoming kpmpg competition. After the 24th it was locked. They decided to add five locks to the shed. This time around they broke in through the wall. This loss was bigger. Over 10,000 worth of equipment and their code. Our laptop was stolen. Laptops, they need to be configured. All of our code was on that laptop. Weve lost a lot of time. Its not its a lot of work. Time is running out. Especially going into build season. We only have about eight weeks to make these robots. So were going to have to take like two weeks to deal with this. That is a quarter of our time gone. San Francisco Police officers arrived on scene and found blood marks. Several parents say they are concerned about kids safety. The kids are here all weekend, all evening from school end to who knows what hour. They will be working at a team member house and raising money for new equipment. To them the goal remains the same. Abc 7 news was at the square yesterday where firecrackers and dancing dragon mark the anniversary for Community Clean team. Its the longest running volunteer neighbor program. They have been at it 20 years now. Today we have over 300 volunteers who are here giving us the extra hands that we need to keep our city clean. Of course they celebrated with cleaning and greening. Since the program started, the volunteers logged more than 2,000 hours, painted over 4 million square feet of graffiti and collected more than 5,000 bags of litter. They are clearing making a change in our community. The museum is always a great weekend exhibit. Internationally claimed exhibition is there right now. Called soul of a nation, art in the age of black power. Abc 7 News Reporter shows us the remarkable work on display made by black artists during two pivotal decades in america. Soul of the nation has probably been the most acclaimed exhibition over the past if you years. A lot of people describe it as revelato revelatory. Artists and art works they have never heard of or seen before. 60 artists and are 150 pieces inside the museum in every possible medium documenting 1963 to 83 where race, identity and politics, much like today, were at the forefront of black life in america.
