And i hear the establishment saying oh, bernie cant win the election. Sanders did not mention any of his democratic opponents except for one, the one who might be his biggest challenger in california next month. Now mr. Bloomberg, like anybody else has a right to run for president. He does not have a right to buy the presidency. Sanders also implored californians to get out and vote and for the states five million no Party Preference voters to support him. The crowd to see sanders stretched around the building and down the street. Those who could not get inside pushed up to the barricades to see, or at least hear the senator from vermont. Im part of students for bernie. And he is the only candidate that will fight for the young people. My friends and i agree that hes probably not our candidate, but just like we would go see che guevara or castro were he to appear in richmond so close we want to avail ourselves of this and see him up close and personal. So laura, a question, though. Those protesters, do we know what that was all about . Well, here anyway it went rather quickly. Yesterday in carson city, several of them actually got up on to the stage with senator sanders. They were topless. They were arrested. Its our understanding that theyre animal activists, and theyre wanting senator sanders to end his support for both the dairy industry and for animal agriculture. I can tell you that two of the protesters yesterday in carson city are from oakland. All right. Laura anthony reporting live for us tonight. Thank you. Well, sanders supporters are known to be quite vocal and very active online, particularly on social media. Michael bloombergs campaign picked up on this and released a video targeting what are known as the bernie bros for their aggressive behavior. Abc7 news got a chance to speak to senator sanders wife today about the video and his supporters. She says they do not condone this behavior and want them to have positive conversations. The fact is we have 2. 5 million supporters on twitter, and some of them, maybe a very small number of them are negative and speak out in ways. And we tell them over and over again, we dont want your support if youre going to be disrespectful. We want you to be respectful and engage in ideas. Jane sanders said she has seen similar behavior from supporters of other candidates, and said she would appreciate it if they were given less attention. Metastatic Breast Cancer is relentless, but i was relentless first. Relentless about learning the first song we ever danced to. About teaching him to put others first. About helping her raise her first child. And when i was first diagnosed, my choice was everyday verzenio. Its the only one of its kind that can be taken every day. It gives us more time without cancer progressing. Verzenio is the only cdk4 6 inhibitor approved with hormonal therapy that can be taken every day for postmenopausal women with hr , her2 mbc. Diarrhea is common, may be severe, or cause dehydration or infection. At the first sign of diarrhea, call your doctor, start an antidiarrheal, and drink fluids. Before taking verzenio, tell your doctor if you have fever, chills, or other signs of infection. Verzenio may cause low white blood cell counts, which may cause serious infection that can lead to death. Lifethreatening inflammation of the lungs can occur. Talk to your doctor if you have new or worsening trouble breathing, cough, or chest pain. Serious liver problems can happen. Symptoms include tiredness, appetite loss, stomach pain, and bleeding or bruising. Blood clots that can lead to death have occurred. Tell your doctor if you have pain or swelling in your arms or legs, shortness of breath, chest pain, rapid breathing or heart rate, or if you are pregnant or nursing. My relentless reason its them. My choice with my doctor its verzenio. Ask your doctor if everyday verzenio is right for your first treatment. Othroughout the country for the past twelve years, mr. Michael bloomberg is here. And a south bay assembly man is just tired of it. The assemblyman kansen chu will introduce legislation this month that will increase penalties. Breakins will be elevated to felonies if criminals take Electronic Devices with your personal information stored on it. Police support this tougher punishment. Criminals feel like they have Carte Blanche to simply come into our cities and take whatever they want out of our vehicles. So i think that this is a healthy discussion. Last year chu secured a 3. 7 million grant from the state to help five Bay Area Police agencies fight this epidemic of breakins. Now we want to hear your ideas about building a better bay area. Share them by joining our better Bay Area Group on facebook. A bill intended to deter party houses at shortterm rental properties will be introduced tomorrow in sacramento. This legislation from east bay state senator steve glaser will allow smaller cities to levee fines of up to 5,000 on shortterm rental hosts who violate local laws. This effort comes nearly four months after five people were killed during a party at a house in orinda that was frequently rented out for events. What we are doing today is honing in on those who are renting their property, typically in residential neighborhoods, that they are held to account for ensuring the tranquility of the neighborhood in which they live. Right now smalle cities can only fine homeowners a maximum of a thousand dollars. This legislation does not target the renters or rental platforms. Glaser says the cosponsor of his bill is now working on legislation that would target the rental plrm platforms them. A 6yearold south bay girl not only survived a Mountain Lion attack, but is also providing a valuable clue to eventually identify the cat. The attack happened sunday morning near cupertino. Now armed with dna taken from the girl, the hunt is under way to find that Mountain Lion. David louie is live at the park. David . Well, ama, were happy to report that the girl is okay. Her identity has not been released. The tracking dogs have been out here all day trying to pick up the scent of the Mountain Lion that uncharacteristically made an attack during the daytime. The tracking dogs have been given a rest for the evening, but will be back out in the morning. This is natural habitat for Mountain Lions, but this is the first time one has attacked a park visitor. On average, trail cameras pick up a Mountain Lion once a week overnight when theyre active. Thats why this incident is unusual. The 6yearold girl was walking sunday morning with four adults and three other children. We know we have a mother that tends to stick around here quite often. But we dont know the sex of this cat. It could be a big male moving through. It could be just another lion kind of passing through the area. Sky 7 was overhead as officers from the department of fish and wildlife took four tracking dogs to search Wildcat Canyon trail where the girl was attacked. The Mountain Lion left scratch marks and two shallow indentations from its fangs on her calf. That was enough to leave samples they can use to make sure to identify the animal that bit her. We have analysis of the clothing and bandages of the young girl, and we confirmed with our forensics people that a Mountain Lion was responsible for transferring dna to her clothing and her wounds. They had a steady stream of steady visitors turned away. The park will remain closed until its deemed safe. Will be more alert and take all the precautions of making ourselves big and trying to fight it off. That is what saved the 6yearold girl. One of the adults punched the Mountain Lion and it retreated. Six years ago, a similar attack a similar attack on a 6yearold boy happened just over the ridge on a trail near a winery. The Mountain Lion was acting strangely and was euthanized. No decision has been made what will happen to the Mountain Lion involved in this case. Relocation is not necessarily the answer as one officer told us, when a Mountain Lion feasts on livestock, even when relocated, it tends to continue that behavior. So you can get the inference about the behavior of a Mountain Lion once it has attacked a human. Were live near cupertino, david louie, abc7 news news. David, thank you. So what should you do if you see a Mountain Lion in your neighborhood or on a trail . We have a oneminute video with lifesaving advice that reminds you to stay where you are. Dont run.
