The Sonoma County resident recently returned from a cruise ship that travelled from San Francisco to mexico. Now theyve been in the county for the past ten days. Right now theyre being treated at a local hospital. Now this case is unrelated to the diamond princess cruise ship that weve recently reported on. Now officials just briefed us on the latest. They say this is the second case of covid19 in Sonoma County. A hospital here is taking care of that patient that transferred from Travis Air Force base. But that person is not a Sonoma County resident. Now in regards to this latest case, officials decided to declare a local Health Emergency as well as a local emergency. These proclamations will allow the county to prepare and respond for the possibility of covid19 spreading into the community. Once we identified that we have this individual who may have had exposure on a cruise which is a very large investigation that would occur afterwards, the declaration allows for us to have better coordination within the different county agencies as well as then being able to access mutual aid and assistance in a more streamlined process. Now officials are choosing not to release the names of the hospitals these patients are being treated at. There is an Elementary School in healdsburg that decided to cancel classes today as a precaution of the coronavirus. Well hear from the head of the School Coming up at 5 00. Now there are no reported cases of coronavirus in San Francisco, but mayor london breed says its not a matter of if that will happen, but when. Mayor of San Francisco london breed said a new lab opened up today to perform local testing of anyone who might be infected with the virus. The reason behind this is to get results faster between one to two days. There are zero confirmed cases of the coronavirus in San Francisco. Mayor london breed says the city is ready to respond. We must be ready because we know its coming. Its not a matter of if. Its really a matter of when. Public Health Officials say in preparation for this the mayor announced a new emergency plan which includes a local testing lab. There is no ondemand testing at this time. The test kits from the centers for Disease Control are limited and test willing be done only after consultation between local Health Officials and the centers for Disease Control. Priority will be given to protecting vulnerable residents. Third we are expanding our deployment of city staff to help our Emergency Planning and response efforts. We are committing 50 more staff people to help in this situation. As the numbers continue to change rapidly, california has about 40 cases of the coronavirus. Now fremont City Employees who ride amtrak or ace into the citys center station can be picked up by a pony ai shuttle and dropped off at the citys Development Services building. And having two or three people in the vehicles will change how we have a number of cars flowing through our city.
