In the east bay, Health Officials from Kaiser Permanente and medical facilities say no elect ive surgeries at the four east Bay Hospitals for at least two weeks. Its all to prepare for a possible surge of coronavirus patients. Also tonight, calistoga, joint unified and maraga School Districts announced theyre canceling classes for several weeks. Travis air force base says an active duty airmen and a dependent of a Service Member have both tested positive for coronavirus. San Francisco StateUniversity Also confirmed an employee has tested positive for the virus. Now, here are the confirmed cases in the bay area. Take a look. Sonoma county announced a fifth case, this one community transmitted. Santa clara reported another 23 cases today, for a total of 114. The most in the state. And San Francisco has 37 cases, including two ucsf Health Care Workers who tested positive. San mateo county has 32 cases which included the death it reported today. Almeda county 15 cases. Governor newsom today laid out an aggressive plan to slow the spread of what has become a fastspreading virus. He is ordering bars and clubs to shut down, urging californians to practice deep social distancing, and asking seniors and those at high risk to isolate themselves at home. We have the capacity to still be productive in this society. But we need to protect those that are most vulnerable. To this virus. Newsom said the state is setting up a system to get food to seniors who are home bound. The state has more than five million seniors aged 65 and higher. He also said california will buy motels and more trailers to be used by the homeless, to get that population out of encampments. Now, seniors here in the bay area have mixed reaction today to newsoms recommendation they stay home. Abc News Reporter jr stone joins us live in the newsroom with more. Jr, what did you find . Reporter everyone i talked with today agreed on the concerns throughout about coronavirus. Disagreeing on what should or shouldnt be done. Even as journalists, we are taking precautions tonight. Now, in this story, weve distanced ourselves, a bit from interviewees, as a way to be cautious of our social distances, and some of the sound may be affected. Im not frightened. And i have lung issues. Reporter barbara morgan, a senior responding to concerns about the coronavirus. The governor on sunday recommending that seniors 65 and over self isolate in their home, barbara is not on the same page. If im going to get, it im going to get it. And im not worried about it. And i dont think i can stay in the house for three or four weeks. I think ill be dead before i get to the virus. Reporter while barbara joke, others say they have already self isolating and will continue to do so after they stock up on more food. Were doing it. Yes. No doubt about it . No doubt. In contra costa county, staff with meals on wheels are delivering food to seniors, as volunteers are calling out sick at such high rates. Right now our services are more critical than ever. The owners of this irish pub in San Francisco decided to close their doors three hours after governor gavin newsom made the announcement. We are directing all bars, nightclubs, wine recollection brew pubs, and the like, winery, and brew pubs and the like be closed in the state of california. I feel bad for people behind the bar. North bay wineries also hurt by devastating wildfires in recent years are also on the list of businesses Governor Newsom called to shut down today. We spoke to a number of wineries, still figuring out their next steps. Chandon and domainecarneros said they are not sure how long they will be closed. And others like describe, coppola, and jlohr will be closed and updated by midweek. We spoke to one of the wineries in sonoma, as a Small Business owner, producing about 2,000 cases a year, he had a suspicion a shutdown was coming and prepared by increasing his online presence, and by making other preparations. And were offering shipping discounts to make that more cost neutral to them. And were working with also the chamber of commerce, and the business bureau, because this is a time where we all need the locals to come out and support us. Well said.
