Well, the rain this week is now moving out. And warmer weather is moving in for the week ahead. We will take a look at the numbers in the accuweather forecast. Today, President Donald Trump extended the social distancing guidelines to april 30th. Now, many businesses in our area are wondering how to stay afloat. Firefighters near daly city and another crew in su city were busy bringing joy to the lives of children. Abc 7 news starts right now. Good evening, im eric thomas. Right now, there are 1,951 coronavirus cases here in the bay area, 49 people have died, and Santa Clara County still has the most, with 646 cases, and 25 deaths. San francisco has 340 cases, with five deaths. San mateo county reports 277 cases and six deaths. Almeda county has 270 cases with seven deaths. Contra costa county, 175 cases, three people have died. And as you can see, there are fewer cases in the north bay. Santa cruz county has recorded its first coronavirus death out of 44 case, the victim was a man in his 70s, who had an Underlying Health condition. He worked in both santa cruz and santa clara counties. He was hospitalized on march 19th and died yesterday. The Santa Cruz Police chieve released a video telling citizens to follow the shelter in place order and extra patrols are looking at the streets. And police are looking, roaming the streets trying to find the people who are taking advantage of everybody else. We will find you and prosecute. And to call 911 only if it is a new emergency. Coronavirus has had less of an impact north of the bay area, Mendocino County has four cases and lake county has zero. The fda has oughterauthored an emergency authorization, and 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine to the Strategic National stockpile and doctors will be allowed to provide the drugs when a Clinical Trial is not available or feasible, the drugs have been championed by President Trump despite minimal evidence that they work. There are strong indications tonight the stayathome order for the bay area could be extended to the beginning of may. It comes after President Trump announced he was extending the social distancing guidelines for the nation until the end of april. I thought it would be ridiculous to say that it would be ending by easter. I think any reasonable person could look at that and tell it was not a realistic assessment of the situation. The Restaurant Industry may take years to recover from the shelter in place measures. As many as 30,000 restaurants could close permanently because of the permanent restrictions. Restaurants limited to takeout and delivery only has designated the industry according to officials. The association urged the governor to delay tax payments and plan minimum wage increases. Sant Claire County is relying on the fairgrounds to play a variety of roles in the fight against coronavirus. Right now, a drivethrough covid19 Testing Center at the fairgrounds six days a week. Exhibit halls and other buildings are used to house Homeless People who are staying at more cramped conditions in shelters. Cindy chavez explains how it will play a vital relief role as well. City leaders in Mountain View are spending more people to help more businesses, and Homeless People make it through the crisis. It includes 400,000 for small local businesses and 100,000 to help the owners of small apartment complexes and 50,000 to provide portable rest room, hand washing stations and other amenities to help Homeless People. This follows Mountain Views city council approving a half Million Dollar rent relief package. A second patient at laguna honda hospital in San Francisco has tested positive for coronavirus. Health officials announced the additional case this morning, bringing the total number of cases at the hospital to nine. Seven of those cases are among staff members. All those who have tested positive are in good condition. The department of Public Health says the hospital and its patients are under a quarantine order. State authorities were taken the steps to closing vehicle access to all 280 state parks to help stop the spread of coronavirus. All state parks in Sonoma County are completely closed to the public. All campground, museums and Visitor Centers across the state have been closed. Officials say if you wish to take a break outdoors, walk, run, hike, or bike in your local neighborhood, and maintain proper social distancing. The pandemic is forcing bay area transit agencies to change course and eliminate service routes. Starting tomorrow, light rail and Subway Service will shut down in San Francisco. Bart has already reduced its service. Abc 7 News Reporter cornell bernard has the story. Reporter a balboa park muni train pulls into the palace street station with no passengers on board. And barely a soul in the station. Its like a ghost town. Everything seems strange. Ridership has plunged during the stayathome order so starting monday, muni will stop subway and Light Rail Service. Many stations will be closed. Bus shuttles will act as a replacement. Providing service on all muni metro lines. The route wont change. Youll still be able to be picked up where youre normally picked up on the service. The San Francisco transit riders group tweeted calling for muni to halt fare collection, encourage rear door boarding and provide sufficient service for social distancing on all buses during the coronavirus outbreak. Paul bagnow was still going to work as a housecleaner. I hope they have more buses on Market Street to get people around better. Bart ridership is way down, on saturday, only 12,000 people rode bart and on a typical saturday 149,000 riders. Golden gate transit will suspend 12 more bus routes starting monday, for a total of 60. Bus ridership, down 90 , ferry ridership down 95 . In the south bay, vta is suspending Light Rail Service starting march 30th replaced by a reduced bus schedule with no fare collection. Pat and ray burly marked 28 years of marriage yesterday on march 28th. The couple avid travelers and planning a trip to santa cruz for their anniversary, and had a trip to italy booked for pats 70th birthday this year. Obviously when the shelter in place order changed things, the pair got dressed up and grabbed the champagne and set up this green blanket inside their san jose home, and got creative. We had photos that we took during the vacations over the last five years and using photo shop, he took us on a virtual dream trip around the world to some of our favorite places. The pair says its an anniversary they wont soon forget. As soon as theyre able to travel again, they want to visit europe again. Abc 7 News Reporter leslie brinkley, tells us, it is becoming a problem. This is a goodwill donation site in marin county. Another donation site. In pleasant hill. Have you had some problems with dumping at your location . We have. And so were going around and were trying, were cleaning up as much as we can. But what we dont want, we dont want a lot of stuff left out at donation sites and people go through and gets scattered and it becomes a problem. Goodwill locations are closed down but still paying their workers. Some of the most vulnerable in the state until april 7th and reassess. For those who are sorting through unwanted items at their home or apartment, Home Furnishings and clothes are the things that are not immediately needed right now, according to the salvation army.
