But now many of the instacart workers are saying it is not safe for them to do their jobs and to go shopping with so many large crowds packed inside of these stores. Threatening to stay home demanding that the San Franciscobased Company Provide Hand Sanitizers and disinfectant wipes and 5 per order and expanded sick pay order. They are playing russian roulette every time they shop. If shoppers arent provided with necessary equipment to shop safely, customers are absolutely at risk. Reporter now the demand for this service has boomed in the pandemic. The Associated Press reporting that instacart ordered 50,000 new shoppers last week alone. The health and safety of customers, shoppers and employees is its First Priority and with the strike planned today its unclear if grocery orders from sites and stores they service will actually be delivered. Coronavirus has had less of an impact just north of the north bay. So far Mendocino County reports a total of four cases there and lake county has none. Santa cruz county is reporting its first coronavirus death. The victim is a man in his 70s who had an Underlying Health condition. He worked in santa cruz and santa clara counties. He was hospitalized on march 19th and died on saturday. The county has 44 cases so far. The Santa Cruz Police chief has released a video with a warning to people violating the shelter in place order. Have extra patrols out there. A lot of Police Officers out roaming the streets looking for people who are trying to take advantage of everybody else. We will find you, we will arrest you, we will prosecute you. The chief also has reiterated to only call 911 if its a true emergency.
