As well. I know you love your socks, friend . I do, because you know who gave them to me. Well leave it at that. Miss kumasi aaron. The fog is down to less than a couple hundred of feet and thats going to hang around for several hours. Some of that will try and spill southward and into the bay itself. Temperature is 54 as we look at the exploratorium. Lets map out your day with the accuweather day planner. 60 to 80, already a spread at noon with rapid warming. 74 around the bay. Everybody in the 80s. San francisco will be a little behind in the mid70s. Thats a sign of things to come for tomorrow. Reggie . Thank you, mike. New this morning, this is the santa clara woman that was at the time of her death the first known coronavirus death here in the bay area and the second in the country to have died with the virus without traveling abroad, but she was a beloved sister, daughter and mother. And Julian Glover joins us live after hearing directly from her son. Good morning, reggie. Time has been moving at a weird speed during this weird crisis. The man that i spoke to lost his mom to coronavirus on march 9th. That was an entire week before we started sheltering in place so it was early into all of this. Here she is, and she was 68 years old when she passed. Amir tells me she was known for the big smile that you see here. She was caring and dedicated and took care of her own mom in her 80s. What started as symptoms of the flu in mid february led to trouble breathing and she was checked in the hospital and tested and diagnosed with the coronavirus, and she died in the hospital on march 9th without amir by her side. I felt very much cheated in that moment by life, and i thought to myself, how could it have tumbled down so quickly . I dont suspect ill ever come across anybody in my entire life who would be so unconditionally caring. At the time of her death, she was the first believed to die from the virus. Amir is back to work while taking care of his grandmother in her 80s, who is also a coronavirus survivor. He said he thought many more years ahead to share with his mother, and you can read his full story most bay area counties already extended the shelterinplace orders for another month, and those echo with other Health Officials across the country. Jobina is at the live desk with the federal governments response to all of this. Thank you. President trump is calling for ramped up coronavirus testing across the country and the white house is saying states should aim to test a minimum of 2 of residents, and the man in charge of the Testing Task Force says it will be easier to identify covid19 patients in the summer. San francisco leaders will be meeting today to figure how to quickly get the Homeless Population into our hotel rooms. As of yesterday, there are only about 2,700 rooms. Earlier this month governor n s newsom announced he secured another 15,000 rooms for the Homeless Population. And then some restaurants worry some employees might not come back to work, although countless people have been failing to see anything hitting their banking accounts, others are making 1,000 or more every week with unemployment. When they were working part time maybe they consider i am not going back to work because otherwise i not get unemployment money. Those local Restaurant Owners are hoping once they will be able to reopen the doors there will be an incentive to come back. And then possible concerns over meat shortages, some household products are now in short supply. Toilet Paper Supplies are improving but other items could be scarce until summer. The household supply chain is getting a muchneeded refill. Probably in the next month or two you will see walls of toilet paperer. Consumers are having to search for Hand Sanitizer, paper towels and tissues and toilet paper. Experts say the shortages were caused by our Shopping Habits at the start of the pandemic. The toilet paper manufacturers were caught off guard. Georgia pacific, the Company Behind toilet paper brands say they are working as fast as they can to keep up. We are making 1. 5 million more rolls a day across our systems and we are making product as quick as we can and shipping it out as fast as we can and its a matter of time that the supply will be catching up to the consumers. Major manufacturers are selling toilet paper on their websites, directly to consumers, like charmin, and cleaning products and Hand Sanitizer supplies may not improve until summer because the chemicals from those products come from china. The dilemma we have, your neighbors and mom and dad, they cant get those because you may have a certain amount in your closet. Lets look at what is going on temperture wise in the south bay. Temperatures about 57 in san jose, and santa clara. 59 right now in alameda. One of the warm spots. Mid to upper 50s everywhere except Half Moon Bay at 52 degrees right now. Pier 15, pointing to the west there, its clear on the bay side. A few clouds on the coast side. For your activity planner today, everything looks good. Watch out for the heat especially inland. That means if you are exercising early, late will be your option. We will hang in the low to mid80s in most neighborhoods. A little further north, upper 80s for you. 74 still at 7 00. Front workers and hospitals are dealing with the anguish of covid19, and the head ofd of York Hospital died by suicide. She contracted coronavirus recovered and went back to work. Now her friend is sharing a powerful message. Dr. Debby mattic works at the medical center. I am in San Francisco, california, and today is monday, april 27th, 2020. I just finished a shift in the covid zone of our Emergency Department and i had a really rough weekend, found out that two colleagues of mine, one of the nurses and one of the doctors that i worked with in new york passed away, you know, and i guess i originally felt ft sad and now i just feel devastated. I dont think when it comes down to the doctor, i dont think anybody is going to be talking about it, because if people talk aout it, that might lose our fight, it might make us lose our steam, it might make us feel like this is not all worth it if we are losing each other. So i wonder who is going to be talking about it. For these people to die in anonymity would be a sin. This is not what we signed up for. With all these people who are asking for lockdown to end and, you know, to just quarantine those who are vulnerable, what about us . This is not what we signed up for. We signed up to be doctors. We signed up to take care of patients. We didnt sign up for a shortage of ppe or a situation where we couldnt test properly, and we didnt sign up for an illness that nobody knows anything about or doesnt have a vaccine, we didnt sign up for this. So for all of these people demanding that lockdown ends, and to maybe just keep people who are vulnerable captive, to what end, to what end will be doing this . To what end will i be wearing layers and layers of ppe to the point of where we can hardly breathe while i am working. Is this going to go until 2021 . We did not sign up for this. Friend, i dont mean to be a downer this morning, but hearing that woman talk, dr. Debby maddic, that was a lot this morning, just her perspective and to get an understanding of what they are going through, and for her to lose her friends. Uhhuh. Its just so much. It definitely provides a little more context as to why we are going to continue our shelter in place for another month. It kind of cuts through all the mixed messages we have been hearing about what has been going on, didnt it . It cut to the core and put it into perspective. Hopefully people will see that and maybe rethink what they are thinking about it. Lets start in san jose and will talk about our weather, 57 degrees under mostly clear skies right now. We will have sunshine, warm to hot away from the coast where the breezes will keep you cool. The cool coast will move inland as the marine layer starts tomorrow. And sunday, sprinkles are possible and thats it. We have a heat pump down to the southwest and you can see it pulling the warmth from the tropics and bringing it towards us, and also taking away whatever cloud cover tries to slip into the bay. By mid morning its already gone. Look at that. And even at the coast we will see sunshine this afternoon. Lets talk about your microclimates. 72 to 87 down in the south bay with 85 in los gatos. 74 to 80 on the peninsula today. How about mid to upper 60s along the coast. We will touch 70, at least Downtown SouthSan Francisco and sausalito. 80 to 88 up in the north bay. Along theo 81. Hot spots in the east bay valleys, and most of us in the mid to upper 80s and then tonight we fall comfortable back in the 50s. You will see temperatures more inline with what it should be starting on friday. Coming up next the action some airlines are taking to keep passengers safer from coronavirus. It has been weeks since we have seen them that could mean an increase byin energy bills. You can save by setting your heat to 68 or lower. Unplugging and turning off devices when not in use. Or just letting the sun light your home. Stay well and keep it golden. With more of us spending time usually dont have, i want to talk about the sun and how strong it is and how you need to be careful from 10 00 to 4 00. Theres a sixhour window when you could burn in as little as 15 minutes. Uv index very high today and doesnt get much stronger than what we will be dealing with today. Reggie . Thank you, mike. It has been weeks since we have seen them on the court but now we will hear from steve kerr on how the team is dealing with the coronavirus outbreak. Kerr is hosting an online webinar, and last month the warriors started a Disaster Relief fund for those put out of work by the suspension, and teams could open practice facilities again next friday, and i dont think that w videon a recent flight and it shows a packed plane. And now people are asking if airlines are doing enough to keep people safe. Take a look at the video of a nearly full plane headed from new york to north carolina. Passenger aaron strine speaking out to gma. It was shocking to say the least and it was the first time i felt truly unsafe. I recognized the risk i was taking by agreeing to be on a plane in the first place, and while i wanted to believe all the precautions would be taken i read on the airline website, there was a lot of there. We are coming back with a full 90 minutes for news, including open for business. One bay restaurant is in the spotlight sharing one of its recipes. Of course you are never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather 7day forecast. Heres mike. Right along the peninsula coast whereal moon bay has visibility of one mile and a g only 200 feet. When 200 feet the fog will be thicker. You can see clouds clinging to the coast. This afternoon, 69 in Half Moon Bay. More sunshine in San Francisco, 70. Mid to upper 70s around the bay and even 80s as you head towards fremont and palo alto. Mid80s in the east bay with 90s possible in places like antioch and fairfield. Definitely our warmest day this week. Kumasi . Thanks, mike. This morning most of us in the bay area are gearing up for another month of sheltering in place, and the concern the orders were set to expire this sunday and now several counties extended the order until may. Now Amy Hollyfield has more on this. Reporter hi, kumasi. Stores like these here in Broadway Plaza here in walnut creek hoping to maybe get to open this sunday for people to be able to come and shop for mothers day gifts.
