Those friday afternoon activities. Lets get over to reggie with news of the day. Thank you, mike. California is entering stage two of reopening today. It is only affecting a certain amount of counties here in the bay area. Lets take a look. Napa, sonoma, santa cruz and solano will follow the governors orders or at least orders that are pretty close to it by reopening many more stores today. Abc7 News Reporter Amy Hollyfield is live in downtown napa with what it looks like there. Hi, amy. Napa and sonoma you can get Curbside Service, pickup. The owner of this boutique says thats not enough. She needs people to come in here and browse. She is really struggling. She needs people to get in here and shop. But napa and sonoma at least are complying with the states new order. Most of the bay area isnt even doing that. Under the new orders, some Retail Businesses like stores that sell toys, books and clothing can partially reopen. Curbside service only. Calamity janes owners says she is trying to meet all the new restricks and opened an online store and is determined not to go out of business but she is worried. Im tough. Im going to tell you i will be here, but realistically, if we dont see some easement on the restrictions and someone helping us bring people back into the community in a safe way, were going to struggle because the reality of a lot of our businesses here are tourist based. Sgl yeah, the tourists will not come here to the wine country yesterday. No wineries or tasting rooms can open. The order doesnt allow gyms or nail salons to open either. This store front, though, shows. She has a good sign here on her front door and on the inside is a nervous owner. She said she hasnt received any federal funding. She need help. She needs her customers back. Reporting live in napa, Amy Hollyfield, abc7 news. Thank you. And most of the bay area is pumping the brakes on those sorts of reopenings. Alameda, contra costa, santa clara will adhere to stricter rules from county health officials. We have heard from marin and San Francisco counties. They will push back phase two to may 18th. Mayor london breed tweeted a list of the types of businesses that can start doing curbside pickups on the 18th and they include book stores, florists, music and Home Furnishings and home goods and cosmetics and Beauty Supply and Musical Instrument and supply stores and sewing and needle workshops. Now an abc7 news live update. I have the results of a new abc news poll that shows most americans think reopening the country will do more harm than good. So, this is what were finding here. Nearly twothird of people surveyed said opening the u. S. Now is not worth it because more lives would be lost. Onethird said it would help salvage the economy. The poll also found that many people are skeptical about a covid19 vaccine. 25 say they would not get vaccinated if a safe and effective vaccine was developed. 75 said they would get vaccinated. More than 500 adults participated in this poll which was conducted over the last five days. Thank you, jobina. New at 6 00, a word of caution as 44 states have partially reopened their economies. Abc news contributor and former White House Security adviser tom bossart talked about the red flags that experts are looking for this morning on gma. Unfortunately, were seeing those red flags. About a 2 to 4 daily increase in the rest of the country when you take new york out of the analysis. And thats bad because that 2 to 4 increase if its projected out and not contained could end up with really devastating results in the next 72 days. Mosert says 2 to 4 is happening in rural and suburban communities. He talks more about what could be done to curb the spread coming up at 7 00 on gma. A surprise announcement from Governor Newsom he said the First Community spread of covid19 in the state happened at a nail salon. He didnt say which one, but abc7 reporter amanda del castillo shows us how theyre improving safety. Reporter busy waiting rooms are a thing of the past. The industry at the state of the firsts transmission, according to the governor. This whole thing started in the state of california, the First Community spread in a nail salon. I want to remind you and remind everybody of that. I am very worried about that. Reporter community spread. Meaning the virus was contracted locally, not from traveling abroad or by crossing paths with an infected person who did. Nail salons are certainly a setting where people are sitting in close proximity to each other, theyre next to each other and across from each other and then adding physical contact on top of that probably augmentes the risk of transmission. Reporter Governor Newsom mentioned masks, gloves and other safety modifications were already in play at nail salons at the time of the reported transition. Dr. Ann lu in infected diseases at Stanford Health care said that could be part of the problem. Ppe by itself is not magical. It has to be used correctly. Reporter she says education is key during and postpandemic. Behind the new Safety Measures at blossom spa in the south bay. Once reopened its appointment only and customers will wait in their cars. We will take their temperature and sanitize their hands and we have facial masks to provide for them if they are not wearing one and we bought protective shields where when you do your nails, a sneeze guard. Reporter Santa Clara County says it does not have the first case of community transmission. Still local salons are proving they are tough as nails. This is what i can do for them to provide the health and safety for my customers and for my employees. Reporter postcovid that regular mani pedi will be anything but. Amanda del castillo. One way to fight coronavirus, disinfect your employees entire body. The new technology being put to use at one airport. Plus getting back on the court. Some nba facilities are reopening today, but not all. What we know about the warrior status. Here is a look at some of the hottest neighborhood today from the upper 80s in fremont and redwood city and los gatos and santa rosea and youre never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. And once you make it to san leandro, things will slow and pick back up once you get through hayward. That is it for traffic and im happy to report that all for you this morning. Only three teams planning to return today. Players will have to stay 12 feet apart and head coaches arent allowed. Also no group workouts. The nba will hold an allplayer Conference Call later today to go over the details. A booth that could disinfect your body in less than one minute. Workers at Hong Kong International airport are testing the booth right now. It could kill viruses and bacteria on clothing and skin in 40 seconds. No word if or when this would be rolled out to the entire airport. Speaking of airports and airlines, it is pretty much the wild west when it comes to regulations. Every Airline Comes up with its own policies and some people say thats a problem, include the Airline Pilot association criticizing the lack of an industry standard. The head of the Pilots Association asked the faa to regulate and enforce coronavirus Safety Measures and standardize things like masks and how to social distance. The faa replied airlines are responsible for the Occupational Health of their workforce. Well, the next time youre out for a social distance walk, you may notice that the bay area is getting a little bit brighter. The rainbow hunt is taking over. San franciscobased brex is showing off rainbow drawings. So, we wanted to, you know, put something out there that other people are kind of already participating in and create a sense of community in a time where a lot of us are feeling pretty disconnected. Thats cool. The first round of billboards went up wednesday and now they want to see your design. You can post it to social media using the rainbowhunt. Thats nice. That is a cute idea. I actually got my own little rainbow hunt in the neighborhood. And people have been really creative. Thats cool. Hey, did you take some pictures and maybe post it for us . I have. Obviously not looking at my social media, mike nicco. At least not those posts. I have been looking hey, you were a very popular one yesterday, ill tell you that. Oh, my goodness. Yes, well have to relive that some other time. Right now well focus on the weather and lets take a look at what is going on in san joe and 56 degrees under a mostly clear sky. Mostly sunny today, but, again, a moderate heat risk. Moderate around parts of the bay and especially inland and that all goes away this weekend and hopefully a better chance of rain monday and tuesday than what im seeing right now. Lets talk about the upper 80s to low 90s and 86 in sunnyvale and as comfortable as it gets in the south bay. Most comfortable on the peninsula 78. Look at the upper 60s along the coast with the sea breeze kicking in this afternoon. Thats why youll feel so much milder than the rest of us. More comfortable for sure. 74 in at least downtown San Francisco. And up in the north bay, mid 80s to low 90s and napa 91 and santa rosa 92 and east bay shore most comfortable in richmond and 84 today in oakland and theres just no comfort to be found in our east bay valleys. Mid to upper 90s. Now, heres a look at the fog forecast. Start at 3 00 this afternoon and watch as we head through the evening hours. Marine layer and clouds developing along the coast and you can see them pushing inland as we head overnight. That is the beginning of the cooling trend. For tonight, still feel the same as this morning a lot of low to mid 50s out there and tomorrow afternoon about 10 to 15 degrees cooler in some areas. But until then make sure you have plenty of water today and seek shade if youre outside and always feels a good ten degrees cooler in the shade than being out in the direct sunlight. So, for mothers day weekend, 60s and 70s mainly for moms day as the morning clouds linger even longer. Some showers possible monday and tuesday and the chance of those are looking a little less than yesterday. And well talk about that one on the storm impact scale coming up next. Have a good weekend.
