Total covid19 cases in the bay area on june 29th, almost 24,000. Thats a 74 increase from may 29th when we were at just over 13,000. At ucsf, there are currently 20 in patients. 11 are in icu. We are double where we were two or three weeks ago. Overnight, there were a bunch of people admitted. Reporter hes concerned that people are becoming less vigilant about wearing masks. Hes notice go more and more young people are choosing not to wear them and women are not wearing them as much as women. A big concern right now is the sudden explosion of coronavirus cases at san quenin prison. It is more cases than any other state prison. More than 1100 inmates have been diagnosed there with coronavirus, and nearly all in just the past 14 days. San quentin didnt have any coronavirus cases, keep in mind, before june. 102 staff have tested positive. So far six have been well enough to return to work. There are about 1,400 staff at the prison and close to 4,000 inmates. Some of them might be released early because of the pandemic.
