Lets get back to breaking news in the south bay where a brush fire is prompting evacuations near Anderson Lake east of morgan hill. This is a live look right now of whats being called the park fire. So you can see were told that its pretty steep terrain and you can see it there, burning right now. I know its been burning for the past few hours overnight, and cal fire says at least 40 acres have burned but that was as of 1 00 this morning. We will await upon update from cal fire and bring that to you as soon as we learn more. Families living along finley ridge road are being evacuated. Est dunn road before Anderson Lake is closed. Cal fire says to avoid that area. This is park fire and morgan hill burning overnight. The cause of the fire is unknown. We have a live picture, a crew on the scene, and well bring you updates throughout our newscast this morning. Contra costa county firefighterss responded to to tt of fires, as fireworks go off in the background. Its unclear what started this fire. 16 fires were caused by fireworks last night in the span of five hours. There were 67 total fires, ten structure fires and 27 vegetation fires but some good news is that no homes were lost and no one was hurt. Abc 7 News Reporter ansar hassan has more from pittsburg. Reporter firefighters were requestic to contain a fire burning near classrooms at delta view elementary in pittsburg. Firefighters say it was started by illegal fireworks. I know its a holiday but they need to be careful. Reporter contra costa count y expect this to be a busy fourth of july. We will respond to probably 20 to 30 or more fires just here in the east portion of our county tonight. Our resources are stretched thin. Its not even dark and weve responded to three fireworks caused fires. Typically the highway 4 corridor through pittsburg and antioch is typically busier for us and our fire district. Reporter its also a saturday night, with so many people stuck home because of covid19 and no public fireworks, chief bouchard says its led to an increase in people using illegal fireworks with the noticeable uptick in fireworks usage, unfortunately it feels like its in every city, in every community that we serve. Reporter pittsburg, ansar hassan, abc 7 news. . San francisco, firefighters were busy all night as well responding to more than 20 fires. One happened at mclaren park in Visitacion Valley and another near the old site of Candlestick Park and hunters point. The department staffed extra firefighters this weekend to handle the influx of calls. Those fires come hours after a fire spread to two acres before crews got it under control. Fire departments warnings certainly didnt stop people from setting off illegal fireworks last night. We still heard some just a few minutes ago from our studio here on the embarcadero. Video from the bay view shows colorful bursts lighting up the sky, and not far from power lines either. This is a time lapsed video the illegal fireworks in san jose. If you didnt know better, you would almost think that these are professional fireworks, but no, they were not. Weve heard reports of about a dozen small brush fires in the city, but its not certain that those are related to these fireworks. Almost every fourth of July Celebration canceled in the bay area, gilroy was the only official show in the area. I think its a great idea. I think morgan hill should have had theirs, too. We couldnt do fireworks in our town and this is like not as busy as santa cruz. This year the parade was canceled, the pandemic turning gilroys counsel town into a ghost town. Shuttered stores, barely anyone around. At this fireworks stand optim m optimism. Theyre raising funds for a local school and fireworks sold out fast. A lot of residents are coming to get fireworks, trying to give their children some more memories and make it a little bit more special for them while were still in quarantine. Reporter this years fireworks launch from Gilroy High School is higher than last year, to give people the chance to spread out, so that homes within two and a half miles could see them. Hood army specialist, missing since april. Her family believes her remains were found this past week. They say guillen disappeared after she told them she was sexually harassed by a superior but didnt report it out of fear of retaliation. California congresswoman Jackie Speier is calling for an investigation. It 2yearold Cecily Aguilar is accused of helping in the case and the other solder who was a suspect killed himself when confronted by authorities. New details about a story in the south bay. A restaurant in morgan hill serving customers outside for a month now is ordered by the state to stop, and that order could affect every restaurant in Santa Clara County. Reporter these surveillance pictures provided by the owner of la dera grill show maebz members of alcohol Beverage Control abruptly shutting the restaurant down friday night. We were visited by two armed officers, everyone was worried. Reporter the close ucaused confusion and outrage at the restaurant which had been open for Outdoor Dining since june is ath. The police chief saying abc told him the county did not have approval from the state for dining outdoors. Morgan hill City Attorney vowing to find a solution. We want to do the right thing. We think we are doing the right thing and if were not doing the right thing, somebody needs to tll us what were doing wrong. Reporter while no citations were issued, abc informed us they visited numerous establishments and explained Santa Clara County had not received variance to open and technically in violation of californias stayathome orders. I Read Everything i could find on the net, i see nothing that would be a directive that we could no longer have outside dining. Reporter the owner of the grill says this is yet another blow to his hbusiness after losing half a Million Dollars since shelterinplace orders began. They say theyll continue until otherwise stated by governor newsom. I find this reprehensible and im not going to comply unless i get a clear directive. Reporter dion lim, abc 7 news. The county responded to us in a statement saying in part the countys application for a variance was not approved by the state. The county is in continued conversations with the California Department of Public Health regarding its application. Adding to the confusion, the county did apply earlier this week for a different variance that would have allowed the reopening of hair salons, nail salons and gyms. Lots of confusion over whats open and whats not. Tensions are running high in martinez, where a black lives matter mural was defaced. The words black lives matter were painted in front of the contra costa courthouse yesterday and one of the artists tells abc 7 news the mural is a direct response to white power flyers found in martinez early last week, but just an hour after it was painted on the street, another group covered it up with black paint, while shouting all lives matter. I think that this is an indication of how much power White Supremacy actually has, the fact that even having something on the street for one hour, they couldnt even tolerate that. It was such a threat to have anybody elses concerns represented by the city and represented by the community. The artists were able to fix the mural. It feels cool for sure, but as we widen the view here, satellite and radar, we have a system to the south that were watching, the area of High Pressure that after this week, where we have temperatures that are influenced by this trough to help us cool down, bring back the marine layer, i think this high will reexert itself for the weekend and looks like well bring back the warmth by then. Right now its all about this system that will slide a little bit further to the south and east, and thats going to bring your return to the low clouds and fog. Here is a look at the full moon. On the coast in the low 50s and the Golden Gate Bridge nice and clear, and you can see just a very light breeze out there but the winds are going to get kind of giusty this afternoon along the shoreline in the city. We could see the gusts over 30 miles an hour. Its62 by the delta, light winds, 65 in concord. Low 50s in santa rosa and with the clear sky, we are cooler, a lot cooler i should say in parts cooler. Elsewhere starting out theres a look at san jose. Were going to warm up again pretty quickly. A clear start, warmer on the bay and inland with cooling temperatures throughout the week ahead. The south facing beaches from Sonoma County to santa cruz right now seven to ninefoot wave heights and continue to be dangerous throughout the afternoon. So we definitely have the parking lots closed and with the dangerous conditions out there, not a great idea to visit the shoreline. As we look at the fog today, notice that its off the coast, but by your monday morning, its back along the coast, and youll feel that breeze. Its certainly going to cool down, maybe five to ten degrees in spots. Here is
