Bet sbeer the east bay but along the coast from the peninsula to San Francisco we are doing okay up in the north bay and some of that smoke is being pushed into the north bay from the winds shifting yesterday and today but looking at the fires notice 60s and 70s with the cooler temperatures, the higher relative humidity and the good news is that the winds are expected to stay light. Vacaville 62 d and relative humidity rather high so looking at the red warning flag today, mid and high level clouds with subtropical moisture throughout the day today remaining warm inland and cool at the coast but that unhealthy air with us throughout the day. If you are at home and want to help firefighters, cal fire suggests making a poster with words of encouragement saying the message goes further than you think. And this morning coming to you with an update from officials on the czu lightning fires burning. We are going to listen into that news briefing when it happens. Are we waiting is that happening now . It is happening now so lets listen in. As well as to mitigate the fire spread south into the community of santa cruz. As we moved into the highway 9 corridor in the Boulder Creek area, again, moderation of the fire, kept the fire well above that Community Although the smoke conditions are very heavy. The fire front is slowed greatly and our view kroo yous have opportunities to work there with the limited resources but certainly any line that could be constructed is an improvement for us. Above the community of ben loman, theres concern and questions of resources there. We do and have had in this entire event. Theyre well outside outside of the community on the ridge top and constructing a line, tacking actions in point protection of structure protection. There is a question how far the fire got down alba road. It is on the top quarter of the road not progressed any further than that into the community and where we have had a significant amount of resources throughout yesterday and last night protecting the community. So they have had protection, resources in there and they have been working tirelessly yesterday and through the night to protect that community. The community of felton is sitting very well. The fire did not make any progression. As i reported a day ago there was a spot fire in that Community Miles away that was mitigated and monitoring that and thats out and controlled. Looking really good. We have no further incidence of the affect of fie on to the community of felton. In the community of bonnie dune, it is continued progress there but slow. Fireead iuny he resources have been doing a great job of point protection, getting in, putting any control lines they can, suppressing any fire they can around the structures, no reports of any structures lost in the overnight hours so thats a positive. We havent had that in the past week so that in that direction. We have people in the evacuated zones hindering the efforts and as the sheriff said before and as completed that these people please evacuate, not hinder the actions. Hay continue to do so. Its unfortunate and sickening that one of our fire ground commanders in that area taking care of business and directing Fire Fighting crews somebody entered his vehicle, Department Vehicle and stole his wallet and drained his bank account and thats what they have done and why we have asked for people to evacuate, the Sheriffs Department did a fantastic job trying to wrangle this but this is as a result. It is saddening, sickening and trying to help the community and unfortunately these happen so please again if youre there, leave when asked to leave. And let our folks get in there, do what theyre doing so we have the progress of yesterday to control the fire, help the communities and try to put this thing out. With the upcoming weather we do everything we can to plan for that. We will have plans in place and we will do everything we possibly can to mitigate any future fires as well as be prepared for the winds that will come with this storm and will give us some challenges with our efforts and prepared to meet that challenge and take that on and protect the community. Speaking next, one of thdnce chief good morning. So ill touch on a few things we did last night. Again, burglary suppression is the name of the game. We today from our operational period from 7 00 a. M. To 7 00 p. M. Tonight to give you numbers to regards how many personnel are working, 94 total. 60 of our folks augmented with mutual aid assets and burglary suppression and then working and conducting welfare checks as they came in and we responded to three welfare checks last night and then three suspicious people and investigated we made no arrests and there were no additional missing people. The evacuation zone again. As you just heard, being in the evacuation zone technically it is against the law. Precngus iits technically a violation of law and we have folks that are looking for people trying to prey on people that have evacuateder and evacuated. At the same time we want room for cal fire to work so please, please, please leave the evacuated area and do not be riding around or driving around in the evacuated area. And not only because were looking for people looting and burglarizing homes and breaking into a cal fire truck, its absolutely disgusting behavior. Frankly, i cant believe that somebody would actually have the nerve to break into a firefighters vehicle or enter their vehicle to steal something from them when theyre there to protect the community and blows me away but its something our folks are focused on going through this. And then in terms of hazards alone, we had a patrol car trying to do our work, the conditions out there are theyre theres active fire area, branches falling. Last night a branch fell on a patrol car and damage the windshield. Theres hazardshere ryg provide everybody with the information to protect you as much as possible. With that is scams and this part is coming next so starting to trickle in. If you get a call from like pg e or someone who says, hey, like something is going on, whether its your power, whether its taxes, you have a warrant or anything like that, they may call, you may receive a call like that. It is not legitimate. Absolutely not legitimate and will ask you to provide them gift cards or put transfer money to a certain location. Dont do that at all. If you get a call from an official source, if you question the validity of it and you should, contact the agency directly, contact them directly and ask, hey, you get the phone call, i got this call and asking for this. You know . You get the call, okay, hang the phone up. Call the agency that they identified themselves as being from and confirm that its legitimate. I can tell you theyre not legitimate. Folks are looking to hurt people and it is terrible. Again we are running around today looking for people, evacuating people as they need to be and trying to do our best to protect yourself stuff while youre gone. Thank you. Another one unified commandanateocounsheriffs offi detective blanksweet. Good morning. We do not have any changes but we wanted to touch on a couple points. We are preparing for the weather change and hoping for the best. We are continuing to do the safety and security checks every night and throughout the day and no issues there. The beaches are closed in half moon bay. Were pretty disappointed that we saw so many people traveling to the coast and going to the beaches yesterday. We really need to rally together right now, bay area. You never know when this is going to be your town, your city and your homes and if we can support each other now it builds a better and stronger bay area when you need it most. Dont come to the beaches. Right now we need your help. Do not come to the coast. Thank you. Speaking for Cal Fire Incident Management Team 3 is incident commandersee. Oo morning4 hours we have had some decent success out on the line. We have been able to gain or increase containment efforts on the fire while still building lines around some key infrastructure places and some key communities out there. We are going to continue that process today as time allows and weather conditions allow. With the red flag warnings for 48 hours it is very concerning for the firefighters. Theyre on high alert out there today and tomorrower and the coming days to quickly respond to, react to and preplan for any significant events that occur outside of the perimeter while maintaining control of what we do have and then making sure that if we do get a wind event that were able to react quickly to any aggressive spread from the fire currently out there gh to all of us. We all understand that. The general public is still in that evacuation zone is a huge safety factor for all my personnel working out there. Please, if youre in those evacuation o please leave. My firefighters need a safe Work Environment to work in. They will protect Everything Possible out there. Have a good day. And the final speaker for the cal fire san Mateo Santa Cruz unit, chief adam larken. Good morning. I just want to reiterate what chief see said. The next couple days will be pivotal for us as agency and as a team here. Unified with all of our partners trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Our firefighters do need your help. If youre out there still in the communities, please leave the area. This is going to be a very, very dangerous situation with the predicted weather coming in and the volatility that could come with that and the increase in fire behavior. Youre not trained for this and those that are trained and youve your firefighters protecting the community that have come in from the days off to try to help out, we appreciate your help. Use your training to save yourself and the events that this thing is a volatile situation. Were working diligently every day with the resources that we have though theyre limited, theyre out there doing a great job trying to put control lines, protect point protection on any of the structures, perimeter control in where theyre able so i cant stress it enough that those that are running around in the community, youre putzing yourself in danger. Our First Responders that are out there and the law partners as you heard had a branch come down and hit their vehicle. I witnessed yesterday personally, i drove up through bonnie dune and within five minutes turned around to come back down the hill and the branch had come out of a tree thats stressed so all that heavy fuel burning up there is very stressed and impacted very hard by the fire and is burning for somewhere around five days now so its going to come down on the roadway and a hazard to you and the firefighters so please leave the area. I cant stress it enough. I plead with you guys. Please leave the area and let us do our job. Thank you. Okay. Well be happy to answer any questions. You talked about trying to herd the fire all right. You are listening to the cal fire briefing on the czu lightning complex fire and you heard there theres an urgent plea to please get out of the area, dangerous Hazardous Conditions and branches falling, trees falling, do not come they say. It is also hurting the ded fleo plee rying to der sino we also heard 71,000 acres is the czu lightning complex fire now 89 contained up from 5 containment yesterday. 129 structures destroyed. They also said one crew member was robbed yesterday. Someone broke into the vehicle, stole personal belongings and drained the bank account so warning about looting, theyre warning about scams, people pretending to be pg e and the next thing thats coming so that was an update there its game day live, here at bia fanfavorite venue, ever since they got gigspeed internet.
