Morning. We want to start the day off right with meteorologist mike nicco with a look at that forecast. Finally a couple days of cooling down before another warmup . Yeah. I think well have some temperatures that will be cooler than what we dealt with last week and over the weekend. Just a touch above average before we can start to get more falllike weather. Fortunately the fire threat returned but mainly to the north bay mountains. This is a very big area, but thankfully not the greatest of Population Centers as it affects about 12,000 to 13,000 people. Im not minimizing you, believe me, but it was much more broad i guess is my point last week when it covered more area. So fire weather watch at 11 00 this evening through 8 00 wednesday. At some point this morning the Weather Service usually updates around 9 30 or 10 00, it will probably be boosted to a red flag warning. Heres a look at our winds up there, up to 17 miles per hour. Pretty quiet as are all of our neighborhoods this morning. Clouds along the coast. 60s there. 70s around the bay and 80s inland today. Thank you. Happening today, family and friends will hold a vigil for the San Francisco firefighter who died earlier this month. Jason cortez passed away after a training accident. The 13year veteran firefighter and paramedic is survived by his wife and two young kids. His loved ones will hold a private vigil at 4 00 this afternoon at st. Ignatius church. A private memorial will be hold tomorrow at oracle park. Today Governor Newsom will provide another update to the response to the wildfires and covid19. Time is running out on congress to agree on a new Coronavirus Relief package. Nancy pelosi says if a deal is not reached by tomorrow it wont happen before the election. The deadline comes as the u. S. Is seeing a surge in covid19 cases. Hospitals in several states are short on icu beds. Reporter this morning, scientists warning that the u. S. Is bracing for a dangerous winter. The next 6 to 12 weeks will be the darkest of the entire pandemic. We received over 70,000 ballots in santa clara county. I wanted to drop my ballot in person this time instead of waiting for the mail because i felt like at least i would know it had arrived. For San Francisco residents, if you missed todays deadline, you can register on election day at the Voting Center or your polling place. Dr. Anthony fauci revealed his voting plan. This brazen daytime assault happened saturday afternoon outside chinatowns iconic Fortune Cookie factory. The man in the black sweatshirt singles out one of a dozen tourists and attacks. We blurred his face because hes not been arrested. He said why are you pushing me . Because youre staring at me. Reporter what makes this story remarkable is what unfolds next. The coowner of the factory seen in the gray sweatshirt with green sleeves immediately steps in and lifts up his shirt to reveal i need to protect my business. This is doug with indigo and lila after they were reunited yesterday. He reported the dogs missing on saturday. He told police he left them in his backyard for about five hours. When he got home, these adorable dogs were gone. Two families ended up buying the dogs from a man on the street. They eventually came forward after learning the puppies were sto stolen. Through the miracles of people doing the right thing, getting the word out, my friends, my community are so amazing. Off to the vet to check them, but theyre here. Police arreste 39yearold francisco zaragoza. Hes been booked on charges of receiving stolen property, drug possession and giving police a fake i. D. People in san mateo are on edge after three Mountain Lion sightings over the weekend, and now police are warning you to be careful. A home surveillance camera caught this Mountain Lion walking through somebodys backyard. This was in alameda on saturday night. Ths comes after two other sightings, one on friday night and the other on saturday morning. Police officers conducted a thorough search of the area but didn find the animal. A black bear put on a rare performance at Yosemite National park. You will want to listen to the vocals as he was spotted hanging out in a tree. They say it does not appear anything was wrong with the bear. They say they see the bear all the time and he appears to be healthy.
