Right now theres scattered power shutoffs in northern california. Pg e is expected to turn the power back on from this weeks event later today. The utility says more information about possible shutoffs this sunday will be available by 8 00 tonight. I think trump is acting more civil than i thought he would. I would say very surprising compa compared to how the first even through the honking here. Compared to the first debate, just being able to actually hear each individual talking. We talked to a san jose state professor who says knowing the mics could be turned off helped both candidates. Well, if youre in Alameda County and eating outside this weekend and you get cold, theres a chance there could be room for you inside. Starting today in Alameda County restaurants can increase capacity inside. They can now have 25 capacity oth or fewer than 100 people. That formula applies to movie theaters, indoor worship services, gyms and fitness centers. All of them can have a few more people inside. The mayor of oakland gives the credit to residents for being diligent. All these indoor activities like climbing walls, bowling alleys, these are going to start to be allowed to reopen at 25 capacity and all that because you have done such a great job keeping that social distance, wearing the mask. Indoor stores and malls can even allow more people. They can increase capacity to 50 . The state cleared the county to make this move more than a week ago when it moved Alameda County into the orange tier, but the states color coded system allows for a county to move at its own pace and make the final decisions. In the east bay, some tense moments in oakland when a grass fire broke out during windy red flag conditions. The flames could be seen burning along the 583 freeway. When the winds pushed the flames towards some apartment buildings, the Oakland Fire Department called in more help. One building was damaged. Oakland fire says it started in a homeless encampment. All right. We have to talk about it. Were going to have a couple of nice autumnlike days today, tomorrow and for most of sunday. New details in oakland, a sixhour standoff with a double murder suspect finally came to a peaceful end. Yesterday at around 11 00 in the morning, the gunman barricaded himself in this shoe store, took a hostage and opened fire. After several hours, police were able to negotiate the employee. The suspect remained agitated firing more rounds. A few hours later they coaxed him out bringing him into custody. We will continue to demonstrate to our community that we are serious about reducing the violence. For those that responsible for the violence, we will seek to take you into custody. Police say the suspect was wanted in connection to a double homicide last week on 84th avenue. Oakland Unified School District is apologizing for releasing a survey that included a historically racist term for people of asian dissent. The Communications Director said we are sorry for anyone who saw it and felt the crushing weight of historic Racism Associated with the word. District officials are working to find a Digital Security issue that may have led to the problem. Ousd will send a replacement survey out soon. A California Appeals Court ruled that uber and lyft violated a state labor law but this will not have an immediate impact. The ruling says that the Ride Hailing Companies misclassified their drivers as contractors instead of employees and that goes against Assembly Bill 5 which grants fair wages and benefits to workers classified as employees. This issue is on the ballot. If prop 22 passes next month, the companies would be allowed to classify drivers as independent contractors.
