We are at about 520,000 votes as of this morning received so far, which is 54 of our registered voters. There is a dropoff location there, and that dropoff location will be open through election day. A warriors facility in oakland and the arena of the Santa Cruz Warriors are also being used as polling sites and dropoff locations. In the north bay marin transit are offering freo encourage voter turnout and fares waived for riders. This will cost the agency about 25,000 based on current ridership levels, 60 of normal because of the pandemic. It will consider offering similar promotions for future elections. California reported more than 5,000 new cases and that is well above the states daily average of nearly 4,200. Experts say this is only the start of this wave of infections. I know after months of rushing to get Homeless People in San Francisco off the streets and into hotels because of the pandemic, they will start to be moved out. Starting tomorrow, more than 500 Homeless People are going to be relocated but theres no clear plan on where theyre going to go. Case managers will work with individuals to figure out their best option. This first phase of relocation is set to finish by the years end. An estimated 2,400 Homeless People are currently housed in hotels throughout the city. In the east bay, parents are planning a rally today to reopen contra costa public schools. It will take place outside the countys office of education in pleasant hill. The rally is an extension of the reopen california Schools Movement started as a Facebook Group and grown to 10,000 members. The group is calling on Contra Costa County to resume inperson classes. They say Distance Learning isnt working and schools have had seven months to prepare to bring students back. They raised 65,000 from Community Members to cover vital expenses during the closure, back open for business with capacity limited to 25 and as a gesture to thank the community for their generosity, the Bowling Alley held a socially distanced outdoor party. Pretty nice to see. If you take a walk around downtown livermore this time of year youll probably notice a number of trees covered in sweaters. Its the effort by a group of fiber artists hoping to bring joy and art into the town. Melissa pixcar has the story. They call it the tree sweater forest to beautify livermore. When im putting them up, people are like theyre back . This is great. Some people are like why are you putting a sweater on the tree . They dont get cold. It is created to the art appreciation and an opportunity to share back some joy with our community. The tree sweaters coming up, fall is coming. Because of whats going on, at least this got to go up this year so it helps people realize everything is going to be okay. After the sweaters are taken down, we make sure it goes to local animal shelters where pups and kittens waiting for homes will have something cushy to lay on, something comfortable while they wait for their new family. The phenomenon happens whenever there are two full moons in the same month, hence the saying once in a blue moon. This was the first blue moon of halloween since 1944.
