While i am sure many of them wish there was a way to slow down summer, there are certainly plenty of excitement across the east bay. We are talking about 34,000 students coming back to schools across town. To break what some call the summer slide and give kids a bit of extra time to get back into learning mode, the district will operate on minimum days the first week across elementary schools. Everyone hopeful for a seamless start coming after an admittedly rough left school year last school year. The strike started in may and kept students away from the classroom for nearly two weeks. It was rough across the district, we had incidents we did not want to see, a lot of pandemic issues were going on. We are looking forward to a great start this year. We are happy with the teachers that have come into the district , last week we had the new Teacher Institute were retrained 160 or so new teachers. It is an exciting time. It seems like the first in the bay area, i am told because so many of their High School Level students are also taking classes on the College Level. The district work to align its schedule so once a highschooler finishes school, they also finish a semester on the College Level as well. That is the reason they are starting so early and have been the last few years. Kumasi San Francisco taxi drivers will be protesting the possible expansion of self driving cars in the city. They will rally outside the California PublicUtilities Commission headquarters. This is the agency prepares to vote thursday on lifting restrictions for driverless cars.
