Information on what exactly happened the still coming in, but cal fire Officials Say the crash happened around 6 30 p. M. Yesterday. Crews were battling a brush fire near palm springs. One of the helicopters was a sky crane. Thats what dropped water and fire retardant on fires. The other was a Bell Helicopter. That hovers higher to coordinate operations. The sky crane was able to land safely, but that Bell Helicopter did crash and kill all three people on board. A Cal Fire Division chief, an air captain and a contracted helicopter pilot. Overnight in the dark here in the desert, a processional of firefighters and Police Officers seen leaving the scene of that crash with victims bodies. The ntsb and faa are going to be investigating.
