Abcs Derrick Dennis reports this morning, the two Police Officers in suburban nashville, gregory kern and ashley bolerjack, are recovering after being shot while responding to a call about a stolen vehicle. The suspect on the run has been identified by nashvilles police chief as his own estranged son, John Drake Jr. The 38 year old described as armed and extremely dangerous. Our officers were investigating a stolen vehicle during that investigation. They had contact with a subject they struggled with that subject. And during that struggle, the suspect produced a handgun and fired. People in the suburb of laverne have been told to shelter in place and stay alert. Nashville police chief john drake senior releasing a statement saying, i am shocked and deeply saddened to learn that my estranged son, with whom i have had very minimal contact over many years, is the suspect.
