If she wins in november, it speaks to the issues that women face running in politics. Doctor Samantha Francois is a professor of womens studies at cal state east bay. She suggests that lower voter turnout means fewer younger voters, who are often more likely to vote for minority candidates. She adds that female candidates still face a tough time fundraising. Adam schiff outraised both his female opponents in the democratic party. Both katie porter and barbara lee, by like 2 to 1. More than two thirds of voters said no measure c would waive the tax for transferring a property from office to residential use. That one also is too close to call. Measure d did pass. It will reform ethics laws in the city with more blocks on gifts to public officials. Measure e it passed as well. The Monterey CountySheriffs Office says it found a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting. Police believe several armed suspects were attempting to burglarize a business at the intersection of west winton avenue and cabot boulevard. One of the officers who arrived on scene first saw several subjects as they were fleeing in a vehicle. He attempted to catch up to take them into custody and crashed on cabot several blocks away. They spent much of the morning riding a search warrant for the property, believing it could potentially be an illegal grow house. We were there as investigators were sweeping for fingerprints. We have seen on the rise of burglaries, of individuals looking for these illegal marijuana grows. So in that respect, its not uncommon, that there are different auto thefts and other burglaries that also take place in the industrial areas, throughout hayward and other bay area cities. Hayward pd says the officer involved has been with the department for several years. They say he is at home and okay.
