To who is behind it and why. Good evening, im j. R stone. Police say this investigation is centered around at least four different locations in the town of petaluma. More than 30 cars were broken into from last night into early this morning, with a variety of different personal items stolen tonight. Abc seven News Reporter ryan curry is in petaluma, where neighbors are concerned. Shards of glass all over the pavement. Its all that remains after someone broke into a car here at the petaluma outlets. But according to police, this was not the only one. Its actually one of over 30 breakins from saturday night. It seems like its a normal thing around here. Darian mendoza knows the frustrating feeling too well. Hes once seen pieces of glass beneath his car. My car got broken into. Two of my windows were busted. Luckily his car is now fine, but when he saw the glass in the parking lot sunday, he felt immediately sorry for the owners of those cars. Petaluma police say they started getting calls saturday night about car break ins. Once they started investigating, they learned it was a spree happening all over the city. Theyre going to break into it. Whether you put a sign in the window or you roll your windows down, theyre going to do something to your car. So its just disappointing. Its supposed to be a nice area, but people going to do, people going to do the outlet mall was one location behind this apartment complex was another. Its one thing when its just a random situation, but when its happening all over and its consistently getting worse, i it makes you wonder where you can live and be safe. Debbie asked us not to use her last name, but her street on sunday was full of this. Cars missing windows. I noticed coming up this part of the walk that every car on this side had its window smashed in and the middle console was up like someone had looted each of the vehicles. Police are asking the public to offer up any Surveillance Video to try and figure out who did this. The only problem at here in front of the apartment complex and the parking lot, we didnt see any cameras. From a house perspective, theres no cameras on the street because youre people are constantly going up and down the street. So your camera would video that every time and youd end up with long videos. But i think the Apartment Building should maybe think about investing in some in some cameras. Police say this kind of spree has happened in neighboring cities as well. Find out whoever did this and make sure that they are held to account in petaluma. Ryan curry, abc seven news new at 11 fire has damaged the historic century old gym at Amador Valley high school in pleasanton tonight. Firefighters were called to the school around 8 00 this evening. They quickly pulled a second alarm, calling in reinforcement. A district spokesperson says they are still evaluating how the fire will impact classes tomorrow. The spokesperson says the gym is primarily used for practices with its sports teams. Tonight, a neighborhood is in shock after a tragedy this weekend in San Francisco. Theres now a growing memorial in the citys west portal neighborhood and a tribute to the victims of a terrible crash. Three people were killed on saturday, including a small child, police say a fourth family member, another child, is still in Critical Condition. The crash that came when the driver of an suv slammed into a sidewalk bus shelter. Abc7 News Reporter cornell bernard spoke with Family Friends to learn more about the victims. I want an outpouring of grief in San Franciscos west portal neighborhood, where a muni bus shelter once stood. Anna and her friends, overcome with emotion as they left flowers at the scene for people they knew. We were friends from San Francisco. Really close friends, like very good people, like very full of life. Shes portuguese and then hes brazilian. Like theyre living here. Family, friends say the couple and their two kids, a toddler and a baby, were waiting at the bus stop saturday for a trip to the zoo when the driver of an suv crashed into them. Rosario falero says the father and toddler were killed. The sfpd confirms a woman died from her injuries on sunday. Rosario says she was wife and mom. A lot of things that we knew about, like love was then, you know, like they were like amazing couple. Like they had like no issues with anything. They were just like love, love, love and taking care of their, their kids, you know, like then they were like going to the zoo, you know, like to have a nice day at the park. Police say the baby survived the crash, listed in Critical Condition sunday, vilma franco brought her daughter to the growing memorial for the victims. Her husband witnessed the crash and tried to help. Obviously, i have my child, i have a kids and i. I dont want to imagine what the family feel in this moment, how heartbroken is for all the community. Its devastating. Jody medeiros from walk San Francisco, a nonprofit advocating pedestrian safety, is heartbroken by the crash. Her Group Planning a vigil here monday afternoon. Nobody should die this way. We shouldnt. Our community shouldnt be losing members of our community this way, uh its absolutely devastating. Medeiros points to vision zero San Franciscos goal to eliminate traffic related deaths and injuries. The fact that were not there means we need to be doing more. The city needs to be doing better. Our goal is to make sure that were doing everything we can to ensure the safety of the people in this city, and it may mean changes, but we would need to wait until the investigation is complete. Investigators still dont know why the driver crashed into the bus shelter. We dont know if the driver had a medical emergency. See, that is all under investigation. Abc seven news coming up on tuesday, well get new updates on the proposed network of speed cameras set to go up around San Francisco. We first filled you in on abc seven news at 11 this past thursday. In all, 33 cameras will be installed across the citys 11 districts. Once installed next year, cameras will hit drivers with speeding tickets. If youre caught going 11mph or more over the speed limit, the fine goes up with the faster you drive. On tuesday, the sfmta board of directors will get to weigh in. Oakland and san jose are two other cities where Speed Enforcement cameras have been approved under a state pilot program. Developing news meta, the Parent Company of facebook and instagram, is now under federal investigation. Its over accusations the social Media Company facilitated and profited from illegal drug sales. Well, turning our attention now to the Saint Patricks Day Celebrations in the bay area and around the world. The day credits Saint Patrick as the missionary who converted the pagan irish to christianity and has been celebrating irish culture since the early 17th century. Tonight we start in San Francisco. The United Irish Cultural Center is holding a block party packed with vendors, irish bands and irish dancing. Theres plenty of corned beef, cabbage and beer to go around. It reminds me of my heritage, my parents. My mother was born in dublin and, it brings back memories from when i was a kid. Organizer organizers say its a great celebration of their heritage and of the immigrants from ireland who helped build the west coast. Further down on the peninsula, we saw a saint patty skydive at the Hiller Aviation Museum in san carlos, a leaping leprechaun jumped out of a helicopter and parachuted down to the airport just outside of the museum. There was also face painting, green colored planes, and more leprechauns hidden throughout the exhibits course, dublin, ireland honored the holiday in its home. Thousands of people lined the streets to the Irish Capital to celebrate. Organizers say this was the largest ever Saint Patricks day parade, with half a million spectators. Youll notice High Pressure is keeping the clouds away pretty quiet right now. In the bay area. There are some clouds though, off Half Moon Bay and the peninsula coast, but from mount tam you can see a beautiful clear shot of San Francisco and the bay bridge just clear around the bay. Temperatures are cooling down into the low 50s, even some 40s out there. San francisco 53, oakland 54. San jose milder at 57, but Half Moon Bay is down to 48 degrees. And here were looking at from sutro towards downtown San Francisco. So we have 50 at santa rosa, petaluma, 45, napa 47 and some 50s in fairfield, concord, also in livermore. Heres a shot of sfo. So tonight what you can expect low clouds and some patchy fog. It will be foggiest along the peninsula coast and also some north bay valleys. But then tomorrow another sunny day, temperatures even warmer than what we experienced today. And then enjoy it. Because by the end of the workweek, we are going to see rain returning to the forecast. And ill show you that in a bit. So tomorrow morning youll wake up to some patchy fog and some low clouds, especially along the coast and parts around the bay. Temperatures in generally in the mid to upper 40s near 50, though in San Francisco and in richmond. And then tomorrow look for temperatures to come up into the mid 70s for our inland areas. Check out fairfield and san jose at 76 antioch, livermore, concord, even santa rosa at 75 and then around the bay. Well see upper 60s to near 70 degrees. So heres the latest forecast animation showing some rain moving in friday, starting in the north bay, continuing through saturday and lingering into sunday where we could even see some colder showers in our forecast. So its going to feel like winter. Heres the accuweather seven day forecast. So inland areas in the mid 70s we cool down a little bit for the start of spring. Closer to average by midweek with increasing clouds. And then the showers arrive friday. And notice by next weekend temperatures will be about 15 degrees cooler than what we will get tomorrow in the mid 70s will be near 60 for everybody, so i hope you enjoyed it.
