The memorial in San Franciscos west portal neighborhood has been growing since his heartbreaking crash over the weekend. It now includes messages from the community and photos of the family killed a mother, father and toddler died when they were hit at a muni bus stop on saturday. They were headed to the zoo. Their other child, a baby, was last listed in critical condition. Hundreds showed up for an emotional vigil last night in their honor, many saying the intersection where the crash happened is confusing and changes need to be made. People dont know where to walk, not to walk. You can see the lights are terrible. You people dont know when you can cross the street. And so theres definite confusion. Yes, mayor london breed and police chief bill scott both showed up last night. The driver, whos been identified as a 78 year old woman, is now facing three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving. Marley is recovering, but San Jose Police say they are taking the case very seriously. That wasnt just something to scare off a dog. They were really trying to end a life. And i think its safe to say that we consider all lives equal our furry friends. Marley, the german shepherd, is recovering in foster care after undergoing intensive medical treatment. San jose police say she was shot in the skull and with minimal leads. Weeks later, theyre now asking the public for help. When someone senselessly uses a firearm. I think that just goes to show the maliciousness of the case. San jose police say it happened around six in the morning on january 11th. They found marley around here off anne darling drive and mckee road, the Silicon ValleyCrime Stoppers program is now offering 1,000 reward for anyone with information. One of the suspects is described as a hispanic adult male in his 20s, thin build and at the time was wearing a yellow weather jacket and jeans and unfortunately, we dont have a clear description of our second suspect. After the shooting, ten month old marley received Emergency Care at san jose animal care and services got x rays, found that she was very fortunate, that the bullet had hit any major blood vessels. The community heard about marleys story and raised enough funds so she could undergo a specialized oral surgery at uc davis veterinary medicine. You can see that the bullet came in at the top of the snout, exited through the palate. The team at uc davis manufactured splints inside her mouth. She had to have. For weeks, shes been in foster, and the foster parents reported that even with the device in her mouth, she still wanted to play, so they had to take toys away because she didnt remember she had a broken jaw. By the end of february, doctor carter said the splints were removed and marleys bones are healing amazingly. We looking at her now. Other than missing a toe, you would never know what this dog went through. The shooting hasnt dampened marleys sweet, wellmannered and loving spirit. Shes expected to make a full recovery. As sad as it is to see them come in that way, we get to follow their journey and make them better. And then when we see that they get adopted by this loving family, thats thats the reward. A flight going from sfo to osaka, japan, had to go back to the gate yesterday because of an engine problem. The boeing 777 was eventually able to take off, and it made it to osaka overnight. Right now, several of these incidents united has experienced recently happened on flights to or from sfo. Former Public Utilities commission chief harlan kelly got sentenced yesterday to four years in prison. Last year, kelly was found guilty of fraud. Prosecutors said he accepted bribes and misrepresented debts in a loan application. Kelly oversaw an annual budget of 1 billion. The judge also sentenced kelly to three years of supervised release and community service. Kelly apologized for his actions. A defense attorney who was attacked by the man he was representing in court yesterday says he will be back in the courtroom to continue defending him today. This happened inside a martinez courtroom. The defense attorney was stabbed in the face and in the head when his client broke free from his restraints and grabbed the lawyers pen. That man then charged at the prosecutor before being taken down by a sheriffs deputy. The attack was witnessed by the jury, who will soon determine that mans guilt. He is accused of murdering his exgirlfriend. The attack attorney told our Media Partners at the Bay Area News Group that it was, quote, no big deal and says he plans on being back in court today to represent his client in the south bay. Another possible utility rate hike, one of the areas largest water providers is looking to get a rate increase approved by the california Public Utilities commission. If this is approved, san jose water would increase its rates over the next three years, the utility says. Average customers could see up to a 13 increase by next year. San jose water says increasing expenses and Infrastructure Investments are the reason behind these proposed rate hikes and customers say they have heard this before. So they say that were going to lay 24 miles of pipes because theyre bad and old, and theyre only able to lay about 18 miles of pipes. And yet every year they ask for an increase over what they got last year. San jose water acknowledges the rate hikes may be tough on households. The Public Utilities commission could approve san jose waters request in december. Its one of the most picturesque landscapes in all of california, but now big sur will temporarily close the only free Public Camping site because of poor conditions. The campground is located at san carpoforo beach, which is right off the pacific coast. Starting april 1st, the California Coastal commission will close the site to visitors for two years to reset the conditions. I guess it was pretty gross.
