New developments on a story we first brought you last week, a black San Francisco man found a doll with a noose around its neck on his doorstep. And a similar incident has happened again. A man is at the live desk with the details of this latest incident. Reggie Terry Williams first discovered the doll in a plastic bag at his alamo square home the morning of april 26th, with it a piece of paper with dozens of slurs and racist imagery so bad we cant show it on tv. San Francisco Police say they are investigating it as a possible hate crime, and then yesterday morning, williams woke up to another bag. This time it wasnt just a doll, but a toy grenade and threats. If he did not leave the neighborhood, they really targeting me now. Like i need to really like. This is reaching another level. They had another picture of me and then they had it a detail at the at the bottom. What they going to do . Like like were were coming for you. Neighbors have come together to raise money for williams. So he can install new security cameras and move his elderly parents into a temporary home. They are disappointed their calls to Police Last Week didnt stop it from happening again. There asking Community Leaders to do more. Were just really hopeful that moving forward, they can be more transparent and let us know whats going on and what their, you know, the actions that theyre taking to find who did this. It makes me wonder, like, are we really protected around here . Williams has been in contact with the president of the San Francisco chapter of the naacp, supervisor dean preston tells abc seven news he has known williams for years and is tracking the case closely with the police chief and police captain. Now, police are looking for the person who stabbed two people less than an hour after Cinco De Mayo celebrations wrapped up in east san jose. Police say a man is now in Critical Condition and the second victim is a juvenile whos injuries are nonlife threatening. It happened last night near emma prusch farm. Residents call it disappointing. Oakland police say a mass shooting at a Juneteenth Celebration near lake merritt in 2020 1st may be connected to another homicide that happened more than a year earlier. Deshawn rhodes died in that june 2021 shooting on lakeshore avenue, five men and two women were also hurt. Investigators now say the people responsible for that shooting are behind another killing. A year earlier, henry texador was shot and killed in east oakland in april of 2020. Police say the group used a nissan suv rented in nevada, nevada as the getaway vehicle. Police are asking for your help to identify these suspects. So far this year, crime is down in nearly every neighborhood in San Francisco. But according to an analysis by the chronicle, one neighborhood saw the opposite. In noe valley crime was up 15 from january to april compared to the same time last year. There were increases in burglaries and larceny theft, including car breaks, break ins, which made up for more than half of the reported crimes. Were checking in on a program abc seven has been following for years now. It helps children get home from school safely, and San Franciscos tenderloin neighborhood. The area is known for its open air drug markets, but its also home to the highest concentration of children in the city. Theres an estimated 3000 children who live in this area, largely from immigrant families. Socalled safety stewards guide the students along the cleanest routes and avoid people using drugs. We have a lot of things in this neighborhood that are not safe. We have a lot of drug dealing, we have a lot of drug use on the street that impact the lives of the people who live here. And so this is really an intervention of saying, you know, we need this space for kids, mothers fed up with drug dealers in this area created the safe passage program. Its been operating since 2008 and is now part of the Tenderloin Community benefit district secretary of state Antony Blinken is heading to the bay area today. Even on a saturday night. Visit california says travel spending reached just over 150 billion across the state in 2023, but that number does not factor in inflation when adjusted for inflation. Uclas chancellor says the school will change its Security Operations and create a new office of campus safety. The university is hiring former Sacramento Police chief rick brazile to lead that new team focused on security. Also in l. A, usc is cleaning up protesters second attempt at an encampment on campus. The university called in the lapd saturday night to clear out the group, saying the encampment was breaking the law. No word of any protesters being arrested. Uscs graduation events start later this week, minus the big commencement ceremony. The university called that off following backlash over its cancellation of the valedictorian speech. They cited safety issues over her propalestinian views, and were also following the propalestinian encampment on uc berkeleys campus. It has reportedly expanded. Waymo will Start Testing its robo taxis in seven more bay area cities in the coming weeks, all on the peninsula. In march, the state puc cleared the way for waymo to expand its operating area to include parts of san mateo and santa clara counties. The Pilot Program will only be available to waymo employees at first. They will be able to order rider only trips anywhere from San Francisco to san mateo and burlingame. Senator cortez says this about the bill on the robo taxis in march that we need to create a system right away. You know, to do just modest regulations, modest controls, ordinary, normal traffic controls to make things safe for our community. Thats only going to happen if we get our local cities involved. And waymos product manager says the company is in regular communication with local governments and Law Enforcement officials.
