We were telling you that there were two teenagers trapped on this hillside because the hillside was crumbling. They have beenfighters that were able to get the teenagers safely off that hillside. A 15 and 16 year old siblings that wandered in this area and found themselves in a precarious situation when the cliff started to crumble. Firefighters were able to successfully get the teens off the hillside. We hear theyre in Good Condition and being checked out. So right now we have continued showers throughout santa rosa petluma. This will be moving into downtown san jose as we head throughout the next 15 minutes or so. Fire broke out outside a threecar train. Passengers say theyre just frustrated saying theres lots of problems lately. Reporter yeah, thats right. And today bart is saying its likely an electrical arc. But what caused it is unclear. They point out this is an aging system. Theyve been making repairs but more funding is needed. For riders the delays are frustrating. A rough start for east bay bart riders after report of a fire believed to be an electrical arc outside of a train that disrupted the morning commute. Some riders say delays are happening more than theyd like. Enough to be annoying because you want to get, you want to go somewhere and then pow, then like this morning i wasnt going to take bart. Reporter several stations were shut down during the incident. . Couple passengers apparently tried to evacuate that train by themselves. Three people. Three people were injured. Got out of the train. The Fire Department responded to the scene. We were able to get the people back on the train. Reporter bart says the injuries were relatively minor repairs were made to the track. This is certainly not a normal delay. We have about a 95 ontime performance. This is an anomaly. It happened to a section of track we worked on not too long ago. Were looking into what happened. San francisco county sheriff defended the release saying officials could have obtained a warrant or court order to keep sanchez in custody. A Home Invasion robbery ended with the shooting of a homeowner in san leandro. As many as three suspects broke into a mans home at 3 00 in the morning. It happened on lake view drive. The homeowner confronted the men with a shotgun. It turns out the shotgun, though, wasnt loaded. We dont think he knew that. In the heat of the moment and how scared obviously he was in this traumatic time, he thought that he had fired the shot gun at the suspect. Instead shall the burglars shot him. Officers put the neighborhood on lockdown but couldnt find the men. That homeowner is now hospitalized in critical condition. He is accused of having a violent confrontation with his exfiance while she was holding their infant son. At current case unfolds fbs in order to hold mr. This is some of the remnants left behind. I can look at this and know its wrong. I hope you can look at this and say it doesnt look right. Reporter youre looking at the aftermath of whats become a fourth of july tradition in the city of vallejo. The annual Fireworks Show put on by six flags discovery kingdom. It is a tradition, but at what cost . Reporter the mess left behind has environmentalists exploding with disgust. This isnt just response. Reporter darling took us on a tour of lake shabow located close to where the fireworks were launched. We saw the litter first hand. A lot of the debris has settled into the weeds along the lake. Its hard to see, but when you fish down with the net, see what we pull out . Cardboard and plastic, apparently remnants left over from the show. Darling worries about the impact it will have on the wildlife that call the lake home. And hes not the only one concerned. Good citizens would pick up their debris, so that would be expected. Reporter vallejos fire chief says the city is looking into the matter and will weigh its options. We need to make the show as good for the environment as goosegood for the folks who watch it. Reporter discovery kingdom says it intends to clean up and says that the fireworks are made of mostly biodegradable compounds. But its not good enough for darling. Id like to see the city of vallejo create an ordinance to prevent this from happening at lake shabow. Reporter the city says it will look into all of its options. A cleanup crew has not been out here yet this week but will be very soon. Meanwhile, environmentalist ed darling says hes not going to wait. Hes organized his own clean up effort. The local kayak club will be out here to clean up the debris. New at 6 00 san jose says the chemicals are costing money and wants monsanto to pay for it. They are alleging that chemicals once made by monsanto are polluting local water. The city says it costs money to clean up the water before it goes into the bay and wants compensation for those cleaning fees. Monsanto says it no longer makes the chemical and is not responsible. Added labor force will help clear up the backlog of ships and cargo. The long shore labor union gave the go ahead. The extra employees are only a temporary addition. In the winter when it rains in the bay area, theres a good chance it snows in the sierra. And even though its july it happened today. Nbc bay areas reporter david bee neck joins us. I had like a river running down my driveway going under my porch, down over here washing the dirt away and going down that way. It was just tremendous. Reporter once the storm let up, cal trans crews used shovels to clear culverts under highway 50 that had been clogged with mud and rocks. Some of the runoff is flowing into the south fork of the American River which in turn flows into fulsome lake. I dont think the droughts over yet, but soon. Were going to have a good good winter. Reporter most of the rain and runoff has been flowing to our neighbors in nevada down the eastern side of the sierra and fulsome lake is still dropping at the rate of a half foot a day. Near mammoth lake we did have a very few sparse snowflakes. So twield nonetheless. 5,000 feet. It is beginning to calm down throughout lake tahoe now. We have showers off to the south that will likely be moving in on the reno side as we head throughout the next hour or so. Meanwhile, were beginning to get in on the action. I want to spend some time on the Doppler Radar and well zoom around and show you whos getting that rainfall. Marin, napa consistent activity. Really think this could continue as we head throughout the next three to four hours tonight. So some decent, wet weather for you in the north bay to help at least to lower that fire danger. Small shower here from vallejo down to hercules. Even a little bit of wet weather right close to martinez. And thats the nature of what were seeing tonight is very spotty. And then finally getting into some wet weather in millipedepitasmilpitas. Now tomorrows forecast is not offering any wet weather unfortunately, as we head through the day well see the sun gradually return. 77 expected for the south bay, 80 in the tri valley 69 in San Francisco and 78 for the north bay.
