This fire has burned 150 acres near Morgan Valley and rocky creek road. In fact the people who live nearby are being evacuated. Then theres rag fire still burning at Lake Berryessa. I can guarantee you, it is much much hotter up on the hillside where firefighters have been battling this stubborn blaze. But despite the hot, dry condition, they appear to be making progress and thats exactly what people in this area have been praying for. I could be called a tree hugger. It started around 4 00 notice morning and did force a family out of their home. This is along deer valley road. They worked to get the fire contained. It worked. San jose investigated 268 Forcible Rape cases in 2013. That number jumped to 301 actual rapes by force last year. And officers say this upward trend continues in 2015. Many Police Officers will tell you that Sexual Assault cases can be some of the toughest to investigate. And the longer it takes, the more difficult it can be to solve. In our story youll hear a Police Insider speaking for many who says some detectives are juggling up to 60 cases each. San jose Police Patrol officers and a Sexual Assault unit combined to stop a man who assaulted two women. But sources including some members of the Sexual Assault unit say the arrest is just one case in a huge growing case load. An officer who works with the Sexual Assault unit asked us to hide their identity and says its reaching a breaking point. Detectives carry between 45 and 0660 cases. We overwhelmed with our cases, and were afraid that these suspects may reoffend. Reporter now two shifts every month, detectives have to work as patrol officers. Plus, the officers who follow up on convicted sex offenders on megans list are having trouble keeping up with home checks and their undercover operations. The longer the case goes the longer that person that suspect is still out there. Obviously, the victims are not getting their justice. Its a new reality that we actually are facing as a Police Department right now because all our detective bureaus are not immune to the idea of large case loads. Reporter so at this point, the Sexual Assault unit detectives will continue to be drafted into patrol duty as well as the oncall and overtime obligations. Police officials emphasize that the city and union are still trying to work out the pension and benefits issues to help in recruitment but emphasize until that happens there will be no change in scheduling. Robert honda, nbc bay area news. Memorial Service Began this afternoon for Sergeant Scott lunger, the Hayward Police officer killed in the line of duty. A public viewing started at 4 00 this afternoon at the chapel of the chimes in hayward. A 15 year veteran was shot and week ago. The public is invited to attend his funeral tomorrow at oracle arena. His casket will be escorted and the procession will head north to a street and 880, ending at oracle and traffic will be stalled at times. Scott really liked the ceremonial part of things. Bicyclists who feel that they have been targeted by police at the park station are showing their dissatisfaction with the police by show being them exactly what its going to be like if they stop at every single stop sign. The police have been targeting bicyclists for blowing through stop signs and this is the response as they slow down traffic on the popular bike route known as the wiggle. They frequently dont obey the same traffic rules as drivers. They use the opposite lane to slide by cars waiting to turn on octavia, and riders often cruise through stop signs. They say that the laws for cars should not apply to them. This is the author of a book. It is more efficient and safe to greet it as a yield and carefully roll through. Two Young Children are in Critical Condition after a 75foot tree toppled onto them in Southern California yesterday. Several campers were walking through the park in pasadena when the tree suddenly came crashing down. All of a sudden people started to run and screaming, and they started to call 911.
