Kris, still a shocking to hear everything that happened. Yeah, for the fact his cohosts didnt know until this morning is surprising as well. In the last hour, we did learn more about the accusations against matt lauer. An nbsz Spokesman Says the accuser describes inappropriate sexual behavior throughout 2014 and it seemed to come as a surprise to matt lauers coanchor, Savannah Guthrie, who made a tearful announcement to viewers this morning. This is a sad morning here at today and nbc news. Moments ago, andy lack sent the following note to our organization. Dear colleagues, on monday night, we received a detailed complaint about inappropriate Sexual Conduct from matt lauer. It was a clear violation of standards. As a result, we have decided to terminate his employment. It is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years at nbc news, we were presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident. Our highest priority is to create a Workplace Environment where everyone feels safe and protected. We are deeply sadsenned by this turn of events, but we will face it together as a News Organization and do it in as transparent a manner as we can. That is a statement from our chairman, andy lack. We just learned this moments ago, just this morning. Im sure you can imagine, we are devastated and still processing all of this. I will tell you, we do not know more than i shared with you. We will be covering the story as resporters, as journalists. We will learn more details in the hours and days to come. We promise we will share that with you. Police made an arrest after someone shot out a surveillance camera at a south bay elementary school. It happened in san joses willow glen. Its where we find bob redell at booksin elementary where it all happened. Parents want to know. Bob . Reporter good morning to you, laura. The san hoe apolice will release more information sometime later today. They tell us they have arrested a boy who lives a few blocks away from booksin elementary in willow glen neighborhood for firing off a shotgun here on campus, just over 24 hours ago. [ gunfire ] reporter those sounds you just heard were two of the five shotgun blasts recorded by a neighbors surveillance camera around 3 50 yesterday morning. You can see in the video what h was shooting at. He blew out a Security Camera on the outside of the Schools Library and fired upon the building itself. A mother and father who live across the street and whose child attends booksin chased the boy. He got away. Officers with the police department, yesterday morning, set up a perimeter. They shined a lot of bright lights on the neighborhood. They searched the area over 90 minutes. Officers with assault rifles drawn, looking for the suspect. Later in the morning, police found a shotgun in a nearby backyard. They searched for images and videos from resident Security Cameras. Yesterday, police announced they i rested the juvenile. They are not giving his name or age. Hes booked on discharging a firearm in a school zone and vandalism. They have not said whether or not this boy is the same person who shot at a portable classroom here at booksin elementary. The School District indicated to us yesterday morning, before the boys arrest, they believe whoever shot up the school yesterday was the same person who did it two weeks ago. Reporting live in san jose, bob redell, today in the bay. A lot of relieved parents someone was captured. Thank you, bob. 6 09. Developing overnight. Frightening moments in downtown reno. A gunman opened fire on a crowd from a few floors above. [ gunfire ] those shots fired just before 7 00 last night. A number of people called 911 to report an active shooter. One victim was hurt and is expected to be okay. Next thing i know, boom, boom, boom. Oh, my gosh. I didnt know. I was scared. Shaken. Officers responded to the area and heard the shots. We quickly secured the scene. We evacuated motel and hotel and casino patrons to safe locations in downtown area. Police responded to the montage condominium. They are reporting the shooter barricaded himself on the eighth floor with a female hostage. Police tried to negotiate with the man. He was eventually shot and killed by police. The hostage was not injured. When you hear of a gunman firing down at people in casino town, think of the massacre in las vegas last month. Fortunately, no victims were hurt this time. We have learned the las vegas gunman owned a unit at the highrise condo complex where the reno gunman fired from last night. Theres no word on if the shooters are connection ld. Tensions escalating with north korea this morning. This after the rogue regime tested a new, more powerful, longrange missile. The pentagon confirms it went higher than previous tests. It landed 600 miles away, but could have reached the u. S. East coast on a lower path. It comes a week after President Trump put north korea on a list of countries that support terrorism. This morning, south korean president warned that the situation on the korean anyone else could being revated and out of control. After months of meetings, protests and rallies, San Francisco adopted rules for when Recreational Marijuana becomes legal. Pete suratos has a look at how this will impact the city. You have a majority of a board of supervisors in San Francisco agreeing to the new rules, adopting them when it comes to the sale of marijuana. The two big rule that is pop out are the School Buffer Zone they decided to reduce, as well as who is going to get a chance to work in the industry. When it comes to schools, they are going to reduce it from 1,000 feet to 600 feet. Thats between the cannabis dispensaries and schools and day cares. This is a shift from the beginning of the month when several wanted to push the industry out of their districts all together. Obviously, they were unsuccessful in getting the board to agree. The other is the equity program. That benefits lower income residents, people displaced from their homes and people with marijuana convictions. The goal is to help communities affected by the quote, unquote, war on drugs. 30 of the workers at the cannabis dispensaries have to be a part of the equity program. San jose, 64 degrees. East san jose, 65. The east bay, a high of 64 degrees. Oakland, 61. Danville, 65. Peninsula, upper 50s and 60s. San francisco, again, in the 60s in the north bay. Similar to what we saw yesterday. I just want to show you this gorgeous shot of squaw valley, lake tahoe. Its cold out there. 26 degrees at this hour. The good news, we have all these resorts listed in squaw valley, kirkwood open. They have a good amount of snowpack from the storm that hit sunday. Now, a look at the seven day, another slight chance of rain on saturday. I bet the drivers are helping the drivers. Some of the lighter roadways. We have a lot of lighter traffic since thanksgiving. That is typically the pattern. Early in the commute, a crash out of livermore, slowing as you pass by the crash by the g. E. Plant. Not a major issue. The trivalley moves well. So does the east bay. The bay bridge, we have mild slowing. 3035 minutes by the time you get there. Highway 4 to the bay bridge, a quick check with waze. The north bay, we have been tracking this crash. Southbound 101 by petaluma, theres a crash. This stretch takes 50 minutes toward 101. Waze maps out a couple alternate routes saving you 20 minutes. Thats critical in the morning. One of the trucks pitched a rock at her picture window, creating a large divot. The company was ranger pipeline. She told the project manager what happened.
