Lets start our coverage with chief meteorologist, jeff ranieri whos tracking whats left of tonights storm. It was a quick blast of Winter Weather tonight that brought more rainfall in 24 hours than we saw for all of december. You can see the loop here from this evening showing some of the heaviest rainfall from the peninsula and downpours from the south bay to the east bay. In terms of the totals, some of the highest coming from the the east bay,. 56 from oakland,. 5 from foster city. On the radar right now were still dealing with areas of rainfall in the east bay. This is the last leg of consistent rain moving through concord, pleasanton, and back into livermore and down from san jose stretching to morganton as well. Tomorrow morning, the rainfall will be less than coverage. A few scattered showers at 9 00 a. M. Check this out, by 7 00 p. M. Tomorrow night a brand new storm moves into the bay area. I have the full time line track on this at 11 19 tonight. Rain here, snow back east. A major winter storm is hitting the east coast and the south coast right now. Its also impacting the bay area tonight in terms of airlines which are r taking preventative measures. Canceling hundreds of flights from here to there. Sfo, 18 flights cancelled today and many more tomorrow. New york city, a live look where schools have been cancelled for tomorrow. Blizzard warnings from North Carolina to new england. More than 2,000 flights cancelled at boston, philadelphia and new york airports. Back on the home were getting new details about tonights shooting outside of the west oakland bart station. A witness said a bart Police Officer bloke up another shooting by killing a man. Other witnesses said the officer didnt need to use deadly force. This all played out in rush hour. Jean elle is at the station with some answers for us. Reporter we know two people were shot here tonight in front of the barber shop across the street. Oakland police say a bart officer did fire a weapon but wont say if he hit either victim. Witnesses say the bart pd officer shot and killed a man who had just shot someone else in the leg. A shot was fired and then the police started shooting. She says an argument between two men on seventh street across from the west oakland bart station turned into a shooting. And when bart Police Officers heard the shots they ran across the street. She said a bart officer shot and killed the shooter. One of them shot my friend in the leg and the police shot and killed him. The guy that shot my friend in the leg. Reporter Oakland Police are investigating the shooting. They say a bart Police Officer did fire a weapon but wont say how many times or if the officer hit either victim. Unclear if the bart officer who discharged their firearm struck either one of the individuals. The reason why we share this with you is because there was a firearm that was recovered from the scene where the two individuals were. Reporter the shooting happened during the evening commute. Some in the crowd were angry police were involved in a shooting. Stanley says while she understands why officers fired, she doesnt believe the man deserved to die. To take a persons life is not necessary. They undertrained. They should be able to get trained a little bit better to do what they need to do to not take a persons life. Reporter the Oakland Police Department Said the bart officer will be questioned by oakland and bart pd. The name of the victim, the people that were shot, have not been released. Their dog was left badly hurt in a fight. Tonight they want to know why the kennel didnt keep it from happening. Cheryl hurd joins us now with more. Reporter the dog was brought here to the veterinary hospital in walnut creek. We did reach out to the kennel owner. He did not respond to us nor is he apparently responding to the dogs owner. We did see the dog tonight and he was growling in pain. The pictures you are about to see are graphic and disturbing, we must warn you. Im not getting any information. Thats why i posted it on facebook. Reporter she is getting a lot of reaction from social media after posting these pictures of her dog shadow on her facebook page. He had over 18 punture wounds to his head and legs. Reporter this is what shadow looked like when she dropped her dog off last thursday on her way to tahoe with her family. She said she got a call from a kennel employee on sunday, letting her know her dog had been attacked. They havent told me where it happened or how it happened. When we went to pick him up, i asked to see the kennel and they refused to let me see it. Reporter we spoke to a volunteer, she said shadow and another pit bull were both being aggressive towards one another. One of the kennel doors popped open and the attack happened. She said she boarded her animals there before with no issues. Iacone has also used the kennel before with no problems. I just wanted to get the word out. I didnt want another family to go through this, its horrible. Reporter the dogs owner tells me tonight she did report this to walnut creek police. They say they cant take any action because the attack did not involve a person. Reporting live in walnut creek, im cheryl hurd, nbc bay area news. Were following news this hour in san diego. A uc Berkeley Student might be getting deported, hes being held in department of Homeland Security custody and due to be turned over to ice. He was visiting family in san diego over the holidays when he ended up at a checkpoint. Activists and friends said he admitted to being an undocumented immigrant but asked for a hearing so he could return to uc berkeley. Theyre calling on authorities to let him finish his education. He would qualify for the d. R. E. A. M. Ers act. An immigration lawyer is headed down to san diego and is working to free minimum. Now the legal fight is on. A sacease and desist lawyer to steve bannon from one of president trumps attorneys. To be able to come to the championships in my hometown and nail the Short Program makes me proud and happy. Hes suspected of sexually assaulting a teacher inside her classroom early yesterday morning. It happened at harker middle school. Police are asking for the publics help to track him down. A family in the north bay is mourning the loss of a loved one who lost life during a skiing accident. According to published reports, he may have hit a tree and died. Christmas is over but the hunt for a bad santa is still on. Police are looking for this man in that santa hat there. He appears right there to open fire on a car on christmas morning. This was on eddie street in San Franciscos tender loin district. The head of Homeland Security is getting a firstl ld look of the fires in north bay. She defended the federal governments response after she toured the area and met with survivors. She said the federal government is trying to get rid of 700,000 tons of debris. I think by tomorrows forecast a lot of that rainfall is gone and were left with spotty showers throughout the day. And for the north bay, well start at 50 and San Francisco 52, and again a slight chance of a spotty shower. Temperatures wont warm up too much by the afternoon as we have mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies in the forecast. It should be storm free for most of the day, just a slight chance of a spotty shower, 65 in antioch, 58 in santa rosa and 61 in napa. Were looking for the next storm to arrive on thursday but later on in the day. Were talking late evening hours, 10 00 to 11 00, this starts to organize out in the pacific. But the most consistent and accumulating rainfall starts friday at 4 00 throughout the bay area, heavier pockets are likely and that continues to 11 00 p. M. On friday. Extended forecast then shows a little bit of a break just in time for your weekend on saturday and sunday, mostly cloudy on monday and then the stronger storm coming our way still looks good on both long range forecast models next tuesday and wednesday, at least three quarters of an inch to one inch throughout the bay area. You can see temperatures will be in the 50s for San Francisco and the inland valleys we have a mix of 50s and 60s. By next tuesday and wednesday storms there are some projections showing 2 inches or more for parts of the north bay. So well track each day for you. For almost 100 years the harlem globe trotters have been putting smiles on peoples faces around the world. Today they did it for a little girl in the north bay. 10yearold lily survived the wildfires but her home was destroyed. Among the items destroyed was her prosthetic legs. The globe trotters visited hers. She has since received new legs and showed off with the globe trotters. Lily and her mom will join them on their bench when they play at the oracle arena next week.
