That officer was on foot trying to break up a side show. Well warn you the video were about to show could be disturbing to you. This is the video released by the police department. It shows the car. You see it here. Slamming into that officer right there and then speeding away. Nbc bay area Jodi Hernandez met with that suspect. Reporter the suspect didnt say much except that he has never been in trouble before. Tonight he and his girlfriend face serious charges. Again, were going to warn you, the video youre about to see could be disturbing. We briefly met with the suspect, 18yearold juan vargas, today, but he didnt want to answer any questions about his alleged role in the side show stunt that left a Richmond Police officer with serious injuries. Investigators say the patterson man was behind the wheel of a car that plowed into the officer during yesterday mornings side show and kept on going. The officers in the roadway clearly directing traffic, then a car speeds up, runs him down, then speeds through the area. Reporter police say they found the car abandoned about a mile away with a cracked front windshield. They were on the lookout for its owner. Vargas 18yearold girlfriend genesis castaneda. Using an automobile traveling at a high speed to hit another person, the automobile is a weapon, its a deadly weapon. And serious injury or death can result. Reporter the officer suffered serious injuries including head trauma, this video posted on instagram show him on the ground while fellow officers try to help him. He faces attempted murder charges and his girlfriend faces charges as an accessory. We showed the video to the teenager. He shook his head but declined to comment. A man accused of driving a stolen truck that triggered a crash that killed two little girls in antioch. This is video from his First Court Appearance last week. He was being chased by sheriffs deputies at the time of the crash. The two young girls sisters lexie and hermila cardoza. An instructor that taught dancers at a local variety of companies and schools is in legal trouble tonight accused of sexually assaulting a young dancer. Marianne favro, i understand thats where police took him into custody. Reporter yes, they did. They took him into custody at his home in san mateo on friday. Victor kabaniaev has taught here in this school in daly city for nearly eight years. And i just spoke with the director of the school, and he told me hes in disbelief to learn that one of his instructors was arrested. Victor is now accused of 16 counts of aggravated Sexual Assault with a child under 14. The alleged assault involved one victim and happened in Contra Costa County. And heres what Contra Costa County deputy d. A. Paul graves had to say about this case. What it shows all of us is that when you start trusting people like teachers and coaches and instructors, we want to put our faith in them. Theres a lot of trust we put on them. He taught at the Westlake School for performing arts here in daly city for nearly eight years instructing children ranging in age from 3 to 18. Now i just spoke with school exec tutive director paul peepl. He said victor was very professional and he never received any complaints and he also taught peeples daughter. Later victor was arrested at his home in san mateo. Now we talked to parents and they said theyre absolutely horrified to learn about victors arrest. But i also just talked to one father who has two daughters in here right now taking dance classes, and he said hes very frustrated that the executive director has not directly talked to parents about this arrest. The single engine cessna crashed at the naval station in concord. The pilot, the only person on board, died. His identity has yet to be released. A Deadly Police chase this morning involving a suspected drunk driver. He led Police Officer on a chase from the bay bridge to san mateo, then to hayward. Nbc bay areas sky ranger was there when officers finally took him into custody. The chase started after he was driving on the shoulder of the bay bridge right near the toll plaza. At one point in all this he was stopped then got on top of his truck and started dancing. The chp chased him into San Francisco and then san mateo where he crossed into hayward and was caught. Another bay area man has been rushed to a local hospital saturday after he was yankeded from the water of maluaka beach. He died at the hospital. Hes the third bay area man to die on maui in the past couple of weeks. The other two accidents happened at the kamaole beach. He drowned in kneedeep water as did a 67yearold Castro Valley man who was snorkeling at the time. No exact reason has been given for the spike in deaths but locals say that area could be challenging for inexperienced snorkelers. Coffee park is rising from the ashes slowly. One house is rebuilt. Reporter the 99 ranch market in san jose that appeared to receive a delivery of raw, unwrapped meat in shopping carts, has been written up before by the Santa Clara Department of health for several violations in its seafood and Meat Department. According to a report, on the 8th of january a Health Inspector highlighted several major risk factors and violations in the Meat Department. Including improper hand washing, food debris in the meat slicers and grinders, and dirty meat trays. According to a report from last october, the county closed the stores seafood and Meat Department after reporting they found live roaches. Two weeks ago a customer says she snapped these photos and posted them to social media. That post has now gone viral online.
