Around 3 20 one of those maintenance trucks doing work on the rail in the San Francisco direction when it became derailed and damaged the third line and the third rail and the cover. That section of that line is shut down. Thats a result of what youre having to do on the warm springs line only, single tracking between south hayward and union city. An arrest after a standoff at a san jose apartment complex. Brandnew video in to our newsroom overnight showing the scene because it ended long after most folks went to bed. This happened at the willow creek apartment complex near fruitdale avenue. Police say a man allegedly pointed a gun at a family inside the complex and fled into a unit. A threehour standoff followed, but it ended peacefully around 2 00 this morning when officers took that suspect into custody. And the idea with these units, smaller units, but folks will give them incentives to use different modes of transportation so maybe not wanting to drive in this area and using other modes of transportation that will include giving residents in that complex passes to use things such as cal train, vta, and even bicycles. They want to provide them with monthly stistipends, up to 100r Services Like uber and lyft. These will be smaller units between 500 to 700 feet in size and theyre trying to appeal to the affordability of what they call the missing middle so workers who make too much. Six of the units will be restricted for renters with income levels at 120 to 150 of the median income. A single renter your income would be around 95,000. The examiner is going through Campaign Finance records this morning and so far former state senator mark leno says hes raised half a million. London breed has raised 300,000. Other candidates have far less including supervisor jane kim who reports 140,000 and former supervisor angela alito who has about 66,000. A man behind bars this morning. Police believe he may have other victims. His name is stanley friesen. Authorities arrested him in tracy. The alleged crime happened in milpitas. Police say friesen met a woman at a bay month inn for what she thought would be a date. They say he quickly turned into something sinister. The gentleman said he was a Police Officer. He produced a badge and had a firearm. Fearing for her safety and thinking she may get arrested decided to go along with the sexual act. Police say afterwards the woman called police because she thought he might be an impersonator. Social media played a big role in their brief relationship. The two met with the help of a dating app. Police tell us his texts with the victim eventually led to his arrest. Happening today well find out how much progress weve seen in the sierra snowpack. The mauling death of four miniature horses is raising questions about security at the zoo. A pack of dogs attacked the horses and a donkey in two separate incidents in midjanuary. The zoo only announced the maulings this week. Researchers followed more than 50,000 people who suffer from migraines and over the course of 20 years they found these patients had a higher risk of heart attacks, stroke, and blood clots compared to their peers without migraines. The risks were higher for women. Police are expected to issue a public apology for a woman who filed a report against dr. Larry nassar more than a decade ago. She is one of those 250 women who spoke about nassar at his sentencing hearing last week.
