Going into the details of how these drills are going to work, pg e will practice patrols to reduce the time it takes to turn the pier back on safely during a wildfire. These drills are timely when you consider the incoming heat this week, specifically in those inland parts of alameda counties. The federal jail in mshg where Jeffrey Epstein apparently handing himself saturday morning is enter intense scrutiny. As the attorney general vow is to get to the bottom of his death, they are determining if he was on suit watch. Epsteins cell was not checked every 30 minutes as required. I think were going to find that theres a series of inappropriate procedures followed that were a violation of their own policies. While the Justice Department and the fbi digs deeper, investigators raided epsteins private caribbean island. Epstein is accused of trafficking girls as young as 14 for sex. Theyre asking for any additional victims to come forward. Despite epsteins death, the case against any coconspirators and possibly his estate conditions. Back to other other big story for you this morning, the death of a chp officer killed in the line of duty in Southern California. This happened during a shootout on a freeway in riverside. Weve tlaernd officer was andre moye. He died after a suspect was pulled over and there was a shootout. Moye was killed and two other officers hurt critically. Dozens lined along the roadside to salute him. The tributes are pouring in from around the country and across the state, including from governor newsome. A jury must decide whether or not to charge them with man slaughter. The jury has more than a hundred exhibits and three months of testimony to go over. His Attorney Says hes been mulging over what he did and did not say to the jury during the trial. About a year later, one tire went flat. She asked costco for warranty service. She said costco told her she needed four new tires already. Lynn pointed to the warranty, but says costco told her no, that wouldnt cover it. Why . Because her tires hadnt been rotated. Lynn said they had been rotated and a dealer had done the rotation. This week, we told but the schoolboard president no proposing to cover it up with panels. The mural includes images of slaves as well as a dead native american. The schoolboard had voted to paint over the mural, but its now set to consider the new Panel Proposal today. Now to the story making news across california. A deadly shootout on a Southern California freeway in broad daylight. Chp officer andre moye was killed and another officer was critically hurt. New overnight, a procession for officer moye who was the fifth officer to die in california this year. Today in the bays Chris Sanchez joins us with what we know about that officer and the gunman who killed him. Both the officer and that suspect died in that shootout that looks really like a war zone. This is the fallen officer, offic officerandre moye. Officer mye was caught into what turned into a shootout with that suspect. Chp and other Law Enforcement rushing to the scene. The suspect was in a white pickup truck on an interstate in Riverside County when for some reason he pulled a rifle and started firing. But this also helped in the chaos. If you look at this picture here, these are Sheriff Deputies and Law Enforcement rushing 234 while the bullets were still flying to try to reach those two officers who were injured. One of them being loaded into a squad car and rushed to the hospital. Officer mye was flown by helicopter and he later died at that hospital.
