They were not hurt but getting stung by jellyfish. The pilot of the other plane kept circling and radioing air traffic control. He had no idea they were okay. Your heart sinks. Reporter they kept an eye on their position for about 30 minutes. Luckily the rescue helicopter was already in the area on the a training mission. We got the call. We responded immediately. Headed directly out there and were able to spot the orbiting aircraft and then find the people in the water. Reporter tonight lesch doesnt know what exactly went wrong with the plane. Probably 3,0004,000 feet, lost power, did everything i could to get the motor going again, wasnt happening, and so i put it into the pacific. Reporter tonight he spoke with us alongside the men and women who found them ten miles out in the ocean south of Half Moon Bay, an incredible lifesaving rescue. The coast guard was awesome. We would have been dead for sure. If i was out there maybe another half an hour, i dont think my muscles would have been working. Reporter now, lesh said hes only had the plane for about three months but it trained to fly on it. Hes been flying for about nine years overall and flew out here from denver where hes from to visit some friends in the bay area. He also told us the plan was to fly from san jose over Half Moon Bay but then over towards San Francisco as they were taking photos of his new plane. So they say it could have been much worse. Theyre happy, if anything, this happened when they were out in the ocean. Raj . Okay. Ian cull reporting for us. Amazing story there. Im sure the National Network news will be calling all of those people involved. Thank you, ian. Well, tonight a 13yearold boy is being called a hero. It started yesterday afternoon. A man comes into xox truffles right here in the heart of north beach. Hes acting crazy. The owner kicks him out. I also feel like i just did what i thought was right. Reporter sebastians life changed forever yesterday afternoon when as you can see in this video his father kicked the man out of his store. He was scaring everybody around. He was really acting crazy. Reporter but he has trouble walking and fell as he reach the street where the unwanted visitor was now yelling. Thats when he grabbed me and starting doing a chokehold. And very quickly i was running out of oxygen and i was, like, crying for help. My immediate instinct was to grab the bat and then go outside and maybe either hit this guy or get him to go away. Reporter the video shows sebastian jumping into action. A crowd gathered around the two men brawling on the sidewalk. They were all looking around, standing around. No one did anything. The guy was holding me. Oh, dont worry, im not going to kill him, im just going to make him faint. But the thing is i knew that if im fainting, im going to be dead probably. When youre on the Ground Fighting with some guy, everything is going fast. The last thing you want to see is some kid holding a bat on top of you. Reporter sebastian never had to use the bat. The attacker ran, only to return hours later where Police Arrested him. Im very proud of him because he saved my life probably. Reporter mr. Its also ask tesla to pay for the damage. All right. Rob mayedas with us. Im walking my son to School Tomorrow morning. First day of class. 8 00 a. M. Hour on the peninsula. How are we looking . Youll be find. Afternoon, playground temperature is going to get a little hot, especially the inland valleys. Thats where well find the 90s. The warmup is mainly inland, which is good news. Living around the bay and coast, more or less more mild temperatures for the rest of the week. Right now pretty view. Look at that, east of san jose, the moon rising over the hills at 10 51 tonight. Gorgeous view there. Clear skies. San jose currently 64 degrees after a high of 76 tomorrow. Likely adding ten degrees to that number. Some 80s making a comeback. Walnut creek, 66 degrees. Probably dont need the a c tonight, but this hour well probably see 70s around 11 00 as things start to heat up inland into contracosta county. San francisco right now not much in the way of low clouds. 61 degrees and winds still out of the west at 13. The sea breeze isnt completely going away, but the influence of that sea breeze will be mainly across thenner bay and coast which means our inland valleys will see a warming trend. Even as weve got some interesting weather to the north. A futurecast running in august for some light rain around eureka. Yes, measurable rainfall for the northwest corner of the state and a lot of rain up towards coastal oregon and western washington. Unfortunately, as the title says, that rain is staying off to the north. Instead we have High Pressure which will deflect that storm system not only away from the bay area but its going to lead to compression during the day tomorrow which sets the stage for the warmup into the valley. Even though the morning starts off nice and comfortable, midmorning temperatures 50s and 60s outside, we begin to see the temperatures climb up especially south. Should see temperatures down to the 90s in gilroy, east san jose. Trivalley up towards concord seeing numbers in the 90s. And oakland getting closer to 80 degrees. So the bayside portion of the east bay not exactly hot but warmer than the weather weve seen over the last few days. Peninsula temperatures in the upper 70s to mid80s. Even San Francisco, a chance at least around downtown of seeing some 70s over the next couple of days. North bay temperatures ranging in novato to about 92 in santa rosa. So now thursday, similar spread of temperatures. Well fast forward into friday. Didnt change much, did it . Still 70s and 80s around the bay. Thats the good news. Drive a half hour out to the west and you get the nice weather, but the valleys here are going to be looked into though 90s very likely all the way through the end of next week. You see how that jet stream is way off to the north . High pressure locked in on the west coach which means this sevenday forecast. You can see one a lot like it again next week. San francisco warming up next couple of days. Temperatures probably at their warmest for the coast and bay early next week. And for the valleys, low to mid90s through thursday and possibly some upper 90s around monday. So those temperatures in place. Well have to watch winds in the hills tomorrow night. It will turn a little breezy, which we have to watch this time of the year for fire danger. We will be very aware. Thanks, rob. Up next, new guidelines in the fight against breast cancer.
