Kerry Sanders is in brazil with more of the firefight. Reporter from the air and the ground, tonight the
Brazilian Military with orders to do what they can to stop the vast fires, to stop those clearcutting the trees, some more than 400 years old. The rain forest destruction this year historic. More than two million square miles, the socalled lungs of planet earth, responsible for 20 of our oxygen. Now say scientists at a tipping point. The amazon is very important for climate security, for climate stability, to fight the
Climate Crisis we are going through. In the last 40 years, an area the size of france destroyed to make way for farmers grazing cattle, planting soy beans. It was only after protests around the world and the save the amazon trended online that brazils president announced the crackdown. But many of brazils top scientists are skeptical. We are not sure whether only sending a few hundred or even a few thousand oranges into the forest, it would be sufficient. In bolivia, today, a third day of water drops from the 747 super tanker based in colorado. The crew flew directly from california, but the rain forest is a different type of fire, and they say the air drops are not as effective. Were significantly outmatched and undergunned, and just able to hang on with our fingernails to help them. We came upon bill from wisconsin, bird watching in the rain forest today. My real concern is im not down here just to see this before its gone. The question that no one can answer tonight is if this government change in attitude is longterm and if it is too little too late. That w

Cnbcs andrea day has our investigation tonight hiding in plain sight. No demo is complete until weve tried to physically destroy the device. Reporter when you interview this ceo, you may wind up evacuating. All right, lets get out of here. Reporter around sway founded the
Cyber Security firm red balloon here in new york city. This is where the magic happens . This is where the magic happens. Reporter and here the goal was to make embedded devices more secure. And that means breaking in, taking them apart, and exposing flaws. Yes 100 of these devices can be compromised in some way. 100 . 100 . Reporter embedded devices are like
Mini Computers inside almost everything you can power up. From smart home devices to medical gear and cars. At every financial exchange, power plant, air

Cyber Security threat that we have today, because these computers control every single aspect of our

Play was suspended, the course evacuated as emergency crews tended to the injured. Six in all including billy kramer. All of the sudden there was this boom to my left. People were screaming and running away, and i thought as i was on the ground that the tree was going to fall. Reporter all the injured expected to survive. It turns out im lucky. I think way luckier than could have been. Could have been a really catastrophic event. Reporter today was better weather, the games back on with everyone keeping a much closer eye to the sky. Rob mayeda, watching this with the professionalial interest he often has with topics like this. The southeastern u. S. , unlike what we have in the winter, they get their peak rainfall this time of year and its usually enhanced by tropical systems and storms which move in across the gulf coast or southeast. We havent seen that much but this week ahead and the first week of september is typically the busiest for the atlantic hurricane season. So well see how that plays out with that system approaching the bahamas. Right now nothing tropical about
San Francisco. Thats the fog and misty skies. That will have an impact on the morning commute and produce visibilities for places like the
Golden Gate Bridge where its 58 degrees, comfortably cool. Still mild in san jose at 68. Well see a few patches of low clouds trying to steal into santa clara for the morning. And you probably wish the low clouds could reach walnut creek as were still in the mid to upper 70s inland after a high of 97 degrees. And its the east bay that will see the worst of the heat and the air quality tomorrow. Enough so that the ground level ozone concentrations are unhealthy for sensitive groups that triggers a spare the air day. Inland east bay hottest temperatures and probably the worst air quality to start the week. Winds are still technically onshore. So the heat is mainly a valley event for the next two days. Coast and bayside temperatures still mainly in the 70s and 80s. So for the morning, 50s coastside. Inland could wake up to some mid60s. Kind of a mild start to the morning. Concord and antioch, close to 100 degrees. 101 in ukiah, but relief a half hour drive back to the bay. 70s and 80s from
San Francisco to oakland. Upper 60s around half moon bay. 95 and probably hotter around san martin for your monday afternoon. So the cause of the warmup today and tomorrow will be
High Pressure strengthening, but the most important item of the
Weather Forecast is what happens if that tropical moisture to our south. We have a
Tropical Storm that you see some of the high clouds drifting on by. That
Tropical Storm is no longer there. But look where the moisture kind of drifted away from that lower
Level Circulation to the south. And the weather models indicating here in green, thats going to sweep up towards the bay area. Notice the time stamp. Looks like tuesday into wednesday. More of that moisture starts to come on up, which might drop temperatures a bit. But at the same time, humidity is going to go up. So its going to feel extra muggy outside as we start the week. Right now it doesnt look like were going to see anything in terms of substantial rainfall. But that could be a problem. Mid level moisture, especially this time of year and the ground being very dry, this is still a chance of some isolated thundershowers, especially around the sierra and offshore where most of that moisture right now looks like its going to hang out off to our west. Stay tuned. If more of that were to sweep across the coast, we maybe have to contend with dry lightning issues tuesday and wednesday, we certainly dont need to see around here. Temperatures are 70s to start the week. Inland places into the 90s. And then youll notice the valleys trend cooler with a stronger sea breeze for the second half of the week. The muggy factor going up, hopefully without any dry lightning for california. The muggy factor. I like it. Thanks, rob. Thanks, rob. Lets cap off the night with sports.
