Now, to University Avenue, to East Palo Alto, with the welltraveled route from 101 to the dumbarton bridge, during rush hour, it is a traffic nightmare. So would you pay to get through it . East palo alto leaders are considering several ideas to help ease the gridlock there, including putting in a toll. Today in the bay has more on how it would work. Reporter during the morning and evening commute, University Avenue here can be bumper to bumper, so there is a proposal for East Palo Alto to do what University Avenue, what San Francisco is trying to do with lombard street. Nearly every night on University Avenue, theres a parade of red taillights. The idea came to have pricing, with the toll on the thoroughfare is an effort to thin out traffic congestion, the same idea that San Francisco looked at to east traffic on the iconic lombard street. And the vice mayor Regina Wallace jones mentioned the lombard street effort. That is tourist driven traffic. Right. It is seasonal. So it would seem to me that we would have much more strength behind our pleas and just not cease nal. Earlier this week, Governor Newsom vetoed the lombard street plan saying it would create social equity issues. We heard similar concerns from those who often use East Palo Alto avenue. Most of the people around here are very, theyre not rich, and i think that would adversely harm them. I think the government is trying to make money. Thats how it is. You know. But at least one resident supports the idea of a toll road. As long as it get mese to work faster and gets me home faster, im down for it, to be honest. That traffic is terrible. Reporter the Palo Alto City Council will reexamine the proposal in december. Nbc bay area news. And a cool saturday ahead. Many teenagers look forward to their homecoming dance. And the big homecoming game. But one local high schools night game was canceled, after neighbors took them to court. Today, in the bay, carol hurd reports from novato where the fight is off the gridiron. Its not only the lights. Its the noise. Norm heard that noise last friday, when san marin high held the firstever Football Game under new stadium lights. Im not a youngster and i like to go to bed at 9 45 sometimes and if theres yelling and screaming, im not going to go to bed. So on a night when a homecoming game was supposed to be played on this field, there was football practice instead. Tensions are building. I cant tell you how many meetings weve had with the neighbors. Trying to work some regulations out, and worked with them, and we offer something, and basically, it is just no, they didnt want the lights. Last night, the novato unified School District, voted unanimously, to turn on the lights, for the first time, after filing a revised Environmental Impact report. Is delivering on a medical campus. After the first order, mission accomplished. Here we go. Here we go. Hoping the sky is the limit. Wow. All right, we are in mid october. But you can already see some snow on the ground. Look at this. Youre looking at video from squaw valley, and Alpine Meadows near lake tahoe where thanks to low temperatures snow making has officially started. Crews started making snow yesterday on the upper and lower mountains. Perfect time to check in with vianey arana for the weekend forecast. No snow but cooler temperatures. Where is the snowfall . But theyre making the snow. It makes sense. And it is a little nippy in some spots but looking at how stunning the views are if you havent checked outside the window, look at the view of the Golden Gate Bridge, a live view, look at the colors in the sky, a sneak peek throughout the entire bay area and richmond, check that out. That is absolutely stunning. So make sure to get out and enjoy. And we do have a bit of a system to the north. So lets go right to some of those temperatures, and get a look as we head out the door this morning. Up to santa rosa, 44 degrees, and napa, 43, and down through san jose, and palo alto. 50 degrees in San Francisco. And about 58 degrees, half moon bay, 45. And lets take a look at satellite radar. This is what we have been monitoring. It is a system just off to the north, thats what is going to bring some of the cloud cover down to San Francisco, but it zooms in a little bit closer and i want you to notice how the majority of that rain for now, seems to be staying pretty far outdoors, were talking redding, but we could still see the chance of some drizzle, make along the coastline and the north bay through this afternoon. Over the next couple of hours, the forecasted highs, once again, going to be in the upper 60s through oakland and down through the south bay, 64 degrees in San Francisco and mid 70s for concord, and enjoy the sort of cool comfortable temperatures, because by tomorrow, our temperatures are already going to start warming up just atle bimore by a couple of degrees. The reason for that, is because weve got a ridge of High Pressure, thats going to Start Building in, as early as tomorrow, and still going to be in the 70s though, but i want to jump ahead, because this is another big thing that were monitoring, and it is the return of High Pressure, were seeing, elevated fire danger, because things are going to get dried out, throughout the bay area, and then the temperatures are going to increase, and then we get a shift of the winds, northeasterly winds which means gusty conditions for the Higher Elevation areas. And as you know, any time we have dry conditions, and windy conditions as well, that could bring the chance of seeing fire danger, and that could spread very quickly, and so here is a look at the next seven days, a look at the time line, again tomorrow, still in the 70s, so dont worry, it is still going to be comfortable and a lot sunnier tomorrow, so probably the sunniest day of the weekend. And as we head toward monday, look at the temperature, how much they jump, by as much as 10 degrees. We start to notice the breezy conditio conditions moving in, and then wednesday night, with the High Pressure that builds in. And we get the wind gusts, northerly gusts and the fire danger that quickly starts to increase overnight, into thursday, and then our temperatures starts to climb, into the upper 80s, nearing 90, for the interior valleys. Soes so thats something that we monitor very closely, as we head into San Francisco, another day of 67 degrees, for tomorrow, and again, by monday, and tuesday, we start to see the warmup in the temperatures, and then that fair danger really becomes elevated, wednesday night, into thursday. Keira . Vianey, looks good, thanks. We have more coming up on today in the bay. Coming up, 30 years ago this week, tragedy hit, with the loma prieta earthquake.
