So the symptoms of coronavirus unfortunately they are similar to the flu. This is a flu season going on. We do advise getting the flu shot, the season is still on, all the clinics have a supply of flu shots. Please go get the flu shot. Apart from that im gonna tell that in the clinics we all have the policies, not just our clinic, but kaiser, stanford, we have been in contact with the Alameda Department of Public Health. We are all advising phone triaging. This is my message to the listeners is if you have symptoms of cough and fever, those are the most common symptoms. Any cough or fever, please call your provider. Dont show up. Dont show up in the clinic. The recommendation is we want to contain this. We know the virus is here. We want to contain the virus as much as possible. Its a selflimiting disease in most of the people. So people without the conditions like seniors or with no lung problems most likely its going to resolve on its own. So please call the doctor. Right. A lot of people are panicking, oh my gosh, if i get the coyote, im going to die. Most normal Healthy People survive this. They will recover. That is correct. If you look at the data even in california, we know there are cases and there is a couple, you know, one death so far. So, yes, most of the people totally resolve within a couple of days. We keep saying underlying conditions like respiratory illness. Two questions combined. Does that mean Something Like m emphysema in an older person or asthma in a younger person or a young baby that also could have like a respiratory issue . Whats the gamut . So we are learning about this coronavirus. I mean, its like something new. We all are getting the information. So there was an article published in new england journal of medicine and thats where we found out the people with comorbid conditions like emphysema in the older population. Its not like a baby with a problem. Its very, very uncommon for kids to get the virus. We dont know. The data says the kids are not getting this. Maybe they are asymptom a attic and they are getting on their own. Rsv children get very sick. Exactly. This is fortunately not affecting kids at this time. Mostly elderly with underlying healthne conditions . Thats correct. And dont show up at your office. Yes. Please call the office. I mean, if you are sick, the doctors will advise you to come in. We have isolation rooms in the clinics to examine the patients. Please call, find out what to do, the next steps. We appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. Its making everyone feel a little bit better. Thanks for having me. Now to our making it in the bay series. The ongoing series on the housing crisis. In the south bay a new Apartment Building opened today with the goal of getting Supportive Housing for the working homeless. Its sleek, modern, you can see, you would never guess its 90 residents were formerly homeless. Bonds passed four years ago helped finance it all. A Nonprofit Group will operate it. As we are lifting others up, we have to do it in a way thats justice centered and not charity centered because when its justice centered it looks like this. Its not just housing. The residents will also have access to Services Including Mental Health care, job skills, and social activities. All right. Lets bring in rob and talk about the next couple of days.
